Accommodations in Yamanouchi

The staff were amazing and very friendly. They were very patient with our limited Japanese. Highly recommend the dinner (you will probably need to or book). The food was amazing and the variety and quantity blew us away. There are two public onsens on site, each with indoor and outdoor onsens that were beautiful. The location is excellent and Yudanaka is a lovely town, and very close to the snow monkeys. Would definitely come back.

The ryokan was beautiful, the room was large and there were many amenities for the guests.

AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE!!! LOCATION: Literally next to the Ichinose Family Ski Area, so once you put on your gear, it's a short walk across the road to the nearest lift. GEAR: There is a branch of Snowcan on the 1st floor of the hotel, so if you book through their website - you can pick up your gear there instead of walking to the main Snowcan Ichinose branch a short walk down the road. PRIVATE CLASSES: You can book private lessons from the Bianca Ski School through the hotel front counter, which costs JPY18,000 (2 hour inc tax). Our instructor was Mr Takeshi Iida who's super helpful and friendly - and patiently took our entire family for 2 very worthwhile sessions. He even took the trouble to check our ski boot sizes before the 1st lesson, and phoned the Snowcan staff to come in and open up the branch (it was closed during lunch time) so we could get better fitting boots! FOOD: As Muslims, we were very concerned about getting halal food - especially at the top of a ski mountain - so we were very happy that each item in the buffet breakfast and dinner had a list of ingredients (in English) next to them! Sometimes broths were made with chicken / pork - so it was really helpful that those were included in the ingredient list. We ate our fill of seafood-based dishes and rice. The dining area was styled like a canteen - which makes sense since it was used to house athletes during the 1998 Winter Olympics - and has amazing views of the surrounding snow-covered areas. The hotel doesn't have lunch except instant ramen (non-halal) - so we relied on the bread and instant noodles (prepared using the in-room kettle) that we brought ourselves. GETTING THERE: There are scheduled Nagaden Express buses from Nagano Station to the Ichinose bus stop (about a 100m walk from the hotel). Be sure to check the schedule. The property was well lit and clean. There were onsen eggs outside the property for 100 yen that are delicious. There are baths inside the property that you can reserve when you arrive. In addition there are baths in the area that guests can use as well.

Excellent hotel in Yamanouchi. We appreciated the staff (and their level of English), the super nice traditional rooms (sleeping on a futon was a wonderful experience), the upstairs public bath and the delightful breakfast.

The most beautiful stay - the room was stunning, the hotel grounds are gorgeous (especially in autumn!) and they catered to our dietary requirements with a delicious vegetarian breakfast. The private onsen was such a treat too. The hotel is just a short walk to the gorgeous snow monkeys too which was so much fun. The staff are truly so welcoming. Make sure you buy a delicious, big apple from the sweet man selling fruit in the lobby some mornings!!!!!

The breakfast and dinner at the hotels are fantastic. Definitely will recommend to include it in your package, especially since it is a bit iffy on the availability of restaurants in the area. (For lunch, you could still try Shibu Onsen or get something from the nearby Lawson. We were only able to find one restaurant that was open at 1 pm and they close at 2 pm so we didn't try to look further) The onsen in the hotel is fantastic. They rotate the male and female daily so you can experience both sides if you are there for at least 2 days. (The one on the right is better in my opinion)

Awesome location close to the onsens, complementary shuttles to/from the bus station and to the monkey park, the staff were super friendly and easy to book a nearby private onsen if you wish. We had the traditional Japanese breakfast and it was epic.

The place was very clean and spacious. The onsen was relaxing and nice. There is a small cafe on the first floor, and they have amazing cheeseburgers. One of the best I've had in Japan. The place is also very close to the Snow Monkey Park so it is in a convenient location.

During our trip to Japan we stayed in 19 different accommodations, this was by far the most helpful & welcoming staff! The dinner was spectacular & the outdoor onsen was an extra special treat. Amazing shuttle service to the monkey park & to & from the train station, with a friendly & curtious driver. We highly recommend this accommodation.

Location was very close to Yudanaka Station. A few minutes walk. The breakfast and dinner was included and a very good buffet with drinks included too. I loved the onsen.

The food was phenomenal,and they had no problem accommodating a vegetarian. The private onsen was perfect. The outdoor onsen was gorgeous. The room was exceptionally spacious. The proximity to the Monkey Park couldn't be beat.

Cozy hotel, right by the Ichinose Family ski area. The staff is absolutely amazing, 100% focus on making your stay pleasant. We went there for a ski trip and it was really convenient. The public bath is great for after skiing, and both dinner and breakfast buffets were excellent, with many good quality choices.

Had everything we needed for a quick ski trip. Meals were multicourse with a variety of dishes. We made good use of the ski storage and onsen facilities. A short walk to the bus stop and ski rental.

Big room, beautiful onsen, ski in ski out, close to multiple food options, great set up for ski gear, both in the room and outside the room. Would definately stay here again.
