Beautiful place to stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was very good and each meal was bountiful. I gained wait even though I was hiking three times a day.

The host was gracious and brought a fresh coconut on a hot afternoon upon arrival. There was a mix up (my fault) and they were still very nice about it.

The owner is a very kind and informative gentleman . He speaks perfect English. He sets an example of excellence for his staff. And they, the staff, follow his example very well, they were excellent, too. The room was nicely appointed with a great view, especially of the city lights at night. The king-size bed was very comfortable. Although, for its mountaun location and elevation, an extra blanket would have been welcomed for the cool nightly temperatures. We enjoyed a nice, quiet, and relaxing evening sitting in the outside dining area just before going to bed. We drove in from Panama and continued our drive to the San Jose, Purisil area the next day. Breakfast is complimentary. My wife and I enjoyed both dinner and breakfast. The seafood soup and rice deserve recognition as the best we've tasted!

It was our sixth trip to Costa Rica, and I can honestly say we have never met such outstanding hosts. Rocio and Carlos are exceptional. Rocio prepared delicious, healthy breakfasts and dinners every single day—so good that I happily abandoned any idea of staying on a diet. Carlos’s help with spotting wildlife was incredible, and the night walk with Bryan was remarkably productive.
If there was anything negative, it’s only that our stay was too short. Two days weren’t enough, and next time we will definitely stay much longer.
I also noticed a previous review mentioning limited power outlets or dim lighting. In our experience, the common area has plenty of outlets and everything needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
And it is definitely bird paradise.

The location is amazing with comfortable rooms (AC), a salt water pool and a protected beach steps away. We loved getting to know our fellow travelers while relaxing at the pool or beach. Additionally Nereus' friendly staff were able to provide local trips in the area, we went on a tour of the Corcovado National Park on a standard tour. The staff was able to customize days fishing and paddle boarding with the Captain Tom, who was able to tell us about everything around us. Their onside Massage Therapist/Yoga instructor, was there when we returned to help provide additional relaxation and services after our days of adventure.
The food is excellent, they provide a large quantity of locally sourced food for delicious family style meals. We had a wonderful poke bowl / sashimi from that day's catch that would rival any sushi restaurant. The meals are served so you can pick your favorites and easily accommodate those with diet restrictions. Their staff is amazing and we can't wait to return.

An unforgettable stay at Mirador Lodge – truly magical
Mirador Lodge is hands down my favorite place in Costa Rica. From the moment you arrive, you feel something special, and it’s all because of the incredible people who make this place feel like home.
Will, the owner, is genuinely one of the kindest souls you’ll ever meet. He goes above and beyond to accommodate every guest’s needs, including any dietary restrictions, he truly makes it happen. And his smoothies? Absolutely the best in all of Costa Rica. As a local, Will also has amazing recommendations and connects you with wonderful people for unforgettable tours. His heart for animals is just as beautiful, he adopts and cares for pets who find their way to the Mirador.
The dogs alone will steal your heart. Bob, with his little shoulder injury, is the gentlest, most loving dog, so intuitive and calming, like a therapy dog. Lucy is fun, sweet, and full of personality. And then there’s Jack, our protector and little angel. On a hike when we got lost, Jack guided us back and never left my partner or me. He showed me just how incredible animals can be.
The food is outstanding. Cathy, wow. You can truly taste the love in every bite she cooks. She is hardworking, warm, and always ready to help. Justin is also an incredible cook, kind, dedicated, and instantly makes you feel at home. The entire team does. Their warmth and care are what make this place so special.
The lodge is always spotless. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and impeccably clean. And did I mention it’s a toucan sanctuary? You’ll see them all the time. And the views, absolutely unreal. A full 360-degree panorama that your eyes can barely take in.
But more than the views, the food, or even the wildlife, what truly makes Mirador Lodge extraordinary is the team. They make you feel like family. This place stays in your heart long after you leave.
I cannot recommend Mirador Lodge enough. A truly magical experience. 💚

Zanzudo beach is the place where I spent my youth when I was a boy and then teenager. I just went Back to my roots and felt a boy again but with my doughter this time and my girlfriend. That is the best beach ever in the world to me. I'd been in Cancun, Copacabana, Ipanema, many beaches in Guanacaste, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago but Zancudo is the best.

The kayak trip with Gabriel was fabulous. The beaches outside of town are wonderful and the rainforest all around is beautiful. This is a more rustic part of the country and one cannot expect hot water nor tourist comforts. One comes here to be with nature.

We visited Golfito due to its convenience to nearby wildlife viewing (particularly birding) opportunities. A car is a must for this, so if you are not renting a vehicle, this option is not recommended. The property also provides good opportunities for fishing charters. The bay has a big tidal shift and there are no beaches close by, so this is not a good location if that is what you seek.

Very quiet and large expanse of a beautiful Pacific beach with lots of palm trees and lots of peace and quiet. A great beach to get away from it all and just relax in peace. Highly recommended for those who like more off the beaten path environments. Definitely we'll be back!

We stayed at the Kunken about 35 mins drive north of Puerto Jimenez but took the public ferry to/from Golfito (1100 out 1300 back).
There's regular small aircraft using the small runway near the town centre, which is the way we would return, rather than the 6-8 hour drive to San Jose.
We visited the Osa Botanika hotel which is beside the runway, having a nice light lunch beside the pool.
We also drove to the El Remansa hotel on the southern tip of the peninsula. This was quite some experience because the access to the hotel is down a very rough track, needing a 4x4. They don't get much walk-in traffic. Guests probably fly-in and are picked up by the hotel. We had an excellent lunch then explored the rope bridges.

Zancudo was nice and quiet.
Zancudo was nice and quiet. This is a great place to go to relax, walk alot or not. Zancudo today is probably pretty close to how the place looked 30 years ago, albiet with some big new(er) houses built on the oceafront. There are no 'chain' hotels or restaurants or highrise condos anywhere to be seen. We had an excellent experience in Zancudo and will return soon.

Puerto Jiménez served as a rest-over before going to, and when coming from a trip to Corcovado Nat'l Park. We were able to take and ride bikes from the hotel to restaurants and to look around (the walkway to the pier was torn up so we had to go the long way around and the bikes came in super handy). The staff was friendly and could answer all our questions.
