Huge buffet breakfast even on Christmas day when we were there. They set out the buffet extra early so even those who have the first flight out in the morning have time to enjoy some breakfast. The lady who kept the buffet stocked with hot & cold items was constantly cleaning & insuring everything was full, clean & working. Staff was kind, always greeted with a smile & words & helpful. We would stay here again!! Great for early morning flight. Never saw such a nice arrangement for this price near airport.

We had an awesome stay! After staying at a few airbnb's that were not clean this place was a dream! It was spotless, cozy and bright. We traveled as a group of 5 and really enjoyed using the kitchen and dining area. The host was so kind and helpful. We left early in the morning for the airport, this spot couldn't have been more convienant for an early morning flight. Wonderful value for money!

A great neighbourhood to experience authentic life in another country and culture. Weekends are festive in the area with lots of activity at the local bars and cafes. Not many tourists around though... more elderly population noticeable.

The city is easy to get around.
The city is easy to get around. Buses are plentiful and inexpensive, especially if you invest in a Barik card; you only need one for two people. But it's a very walkable city; Google Maps gives a very pessimistic estimate of how long it takes to walk anywhere.
The Casco Viejo is atmospheric, and the food is great and very reasonably priced by London standards, However, there are only so many pintxos you can eat.
The Guggenheim museum is a must see and the Museum of Fine Arts was also great. When we were there the permanent collection was shut for rebuilding works, so no el Greco's, but there was a fine exhibition of modern art that was free.
The Painted Houses were a lengthy walk from the centre; they were pretty enough, but in the end, just a row of houses. We weren't hugely impressed with the view from the top of the funicular, either.

Great location, short trip to Ferry, Very good wifi in room, Max Centre very close for fast food, secure parking for my motorcycle from 11pm to 8am, I still recommend to use locks on your motorcycle like every other hotel. Friendly staff and easy checkin, Bar, breakfast cost 10 euro and well worth it. Room was quiet and large enough for solo or couple.

Bilbao has some really nice areas and some that feel quite rough, so choose your hotel location carefully. I strongly recommend staying in Indautxu. It felt very safe and upscale, with plenty of nice pintxos bars nearby for bar hopping in the evening. I would avoid San Francisco and the riverside area as much as possible. I accidentally drove through that area and felt extremely uncomfortable, as if I could be carjacked at any moment, even during the day. It was by far the shadiest area we came across.

B arakaldo is a bourough of Bilbao. IT is a good place to stay to visit the city. I was very impressed by the city, specially its architecture, both ancient/classic and modern. It definitely is worth a visit, say a week.

The Guggenheim museum is overrated.
The Guggenheim museum is overrated. One can go there, photograph the outside attractions and the architecture of the building from outside and inside at the introductory hall. We got tickets and visited the exhibitions because we went with our children and wanted them to form an opinion about modern art. The exhibits are of little value, for our taste.
We had a wonderful pintxos lunch at the Ribera food market, pintxos at 2,50€ or 3€ apiece.
The old city is very good and the new city (as you walk towards the Guggenheim) very good as well.
2 nights stay (that is, a whole day in the city) is enough.
