The location was perfect for my one-night stay in Cagliari but would have been comfortable for longer. I arrived much later than my original flight was expected, and my hosts graciously picked me up for a reasonable fee. I really enjoyed chatting with them (some in Italian - they were so patient with my beginner Italian). The warm croissants were a real treat in the morning. The shower was big and the water hot. The bed was also very nice. Highly recommend!

A good base to travel east and west to fabulous beaches that...

A good base to travel east and west to fabulous beaches that will take you approximately 1 hour. We ate out in and around Sestu, a good selection of restaurants and good value for money. Not a tourist town. There are also numerous takeaways, lots a pizza on offer all very good.

This is a lovely island city with very friendly people.

This is a lovely island city with very friendly people. We were there for a week and enjoyed many different restaurants and bistros. There are also a huge number of places to get wine or cocktails. The ocean is spectacular in colour and temperature. We took several baot trips as well as a trip to the beach,

We chose Assemini for our last night in Sardinia because...

We chose Assemini for our last night in Sardinia because it's close to Cagliari airport and is well connected to both the airport and city by train. But actually it's quite a characterful little town. We didn't spend long there - literally, it was an overnight stay - but we were impressed by the range of places to eat. The local people seemed very friendly. The owners of Il Girasole, and the other guests staying there, were very welcoming towards us, as were the staff and other diners at the pizzeria (Mignon) that we went to for an evening meal.

Quartu has nice and less nice areas.

Quartu has nice and less nice areas. Important is that you can find places that make you happy, like your own café or restaurant, that's no problem. Or even supermarket that stays open later in the evening so that you can make your shopping even if you stay on the beach until late.

Nice part of Cagliari with some old and many new parts with...

Nice part of Cagliari with some old and many new parts with modern apartments. Close to Poetto beach and to the Cagliari center, but because of complicated traffic, you'll need up to 20 minutes to go by car from some parts of Quartu SE.

It is a smaller town near Cagliari.

It is a smaller town near Cagliari. There is good access to restaurants, shops. I recommend renting a car and visiting several beaches in the area, the city of Cagliari, taking a boat trip and swimming.

This was our first time to Sardinia.

This was our first time to Sardinia. It was mainly for the beach experience, although we travelled into town one day. The old town has a romantic feel to it with lots of winding streets filled with shops, bars and restaurants. It's certainly worth a look. The beaches were clean and well served with lidos, sunbeds and umbrella's. We found two great restaurants Lo Spiedio Sardo and Malibù. There's also an area of street food which was also good value for money. For those that smoke/vape beware. There's a no smoking rule on the beach in Poetto. Nobody tells you and there are no signs. The local police give out fines to unsuspecting tourists. We found that out to our cost.

Our first time in Sardinia, we were thrilled. The villa's location is superb, with stunning sea views and fantastic sunsets. The house is very comfortable and cozy, and the very hospitable host, Roberta, will make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible. Thank you so much – 10 out of 10!

If you have a car you can explore beaches.

If you have a car you can explore beaches. It was August so many beaches were quite full, and normally you had to call to book. We went without calling and almost always found a spot somewhere (2 sunbeds and beach umbrella).It is impossible to stay on the beach with 33 degrees without an umbrella. Bring your own or rent one (in August the prices are high -50 euros). Only Spiagga Tuerreda was completely full and we would have to queue to get in. An interesting beach is Spiaggia di Nora (it also has 2 restaurants and archelogical site), so you can spend whole day there. Some beaches are reserved by the hotels nearby and you cannot use them- normally in one bay there are two or three beaches, one to book, one free, one from the hotel. I loved that you could see flamingos everywhere (from the highway, near beaches, next to our hotel). I would avoid going again in August though - it was too hot go walking in the city , to go birdwatching and cycling in the flamingo park (Molentargius)...Also, prices were much higher than out of season.

Lots to see and do both in the city and at the beaches.

Lots to see and do both in the city and at the beaches. We only had time to visit one beach (Poetto) but would have loved to walk over the mountain to the beach at the other side. Great views from the Bastion and the cathedral was very impressive. Lovely, relaxing afternoon at the botanic gardens which was also great value for money. Great value food and drink. Loved the special Cagliari pizza too!
