Charming-- historic building with beautiful garden and pool. Breakfast in the garden is a treat. Close to the Mateus estate and easy to reach and park. A cottage with two bedrooms is available, offering flexibility for families. Excellent hosts helped make our stay delightful.

I was in Vila real for an international
Competition. The city is a microcosm of Portugal with everything you would expect to see. The village of constantim is a much smaller area with a hometown feel.
We didn’t visit the nature park or any palace. We were there for the competition and to eat great food. It did not disappoint.

We rented a car at Porto airport.
We rented a car at Porto airport. It took us about 2 hours in easy driving to reach the place. Carlos provides the address for navigation, the parking at the house is to be reached with a small downhill road.
I would highly recommend the place for anyone who wish to have a few quiet days.

Like every rural location in Spain, it took a bit of finding, but we got there OK.
We ate in, the view was well worth it.
Narrow roads, but hardly any traffic.
Good access to all nearby towns and villages.

Old-world charm, modern comfort, amazing top-of-the-world views and superb hosting make the Quinta da Travassinhos hotel one of my all-time favourite experiences. Take full advantage of both the indoor salt pool and the infinity pool on the outside terrace, and explore traditional Portuguese delights among the abundant options put out for the breakfast. And absolutely book in for lunch and/or dinner. I can't say enough about my stay here -- it was an absolute delight.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Terra Nossa, and it exceeded every expectation. The home itself is incredibly charming, with spotless accommodations that made us feel comfortable the moment we arrived.
Joaquim was a truly superb host—attentive, welcoming, and genuinely invested in making our stay special. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, and his hospitality did not go unnoticed.
The pool was beautiful and perfect for relaxing, and the views were simply breathtaking—everything we had hoped for and more. To top it all off, their sweet dog Simba added such a fun and memorable touch to our stay.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic getaway with exceptional hospitality, Terra Nossa is a true gem. We would return in a heartbeat!

This is a great place to spend the best time in the Douro Valley and enjoy the surroundings with the best views, terrace vineyards and wineries. The outdoor pool attracts you even more, especially if you have a teenager who wants to spend time around the pool / beach.

Vila Real is a nice town with all factilities available, some nice and affordabled places to eat or have a drink.
It is within 30 minutes of driving from the Douro valley. A great ride will bring you in the wineries over there.
Be prepared that wine tasting in the Douro valley is overpriced.
