The most incredible place to stay. Our knowledgeable guide Leo found so many amazing animals, this was truly a once in a lifetime experience. The staff were exceptional, our tent was excellent, the food was incredible.

One of the best camps we’ve ever been. Done previously many safaris , so I can fairly compare. This place is not about artificial ( and sometimes stupid) over-luxury ; it goes straight to the point of what a great bush camp should be . Tents are very comfy, new and clean , food is above expectations, perfect location. But what makes this place very special is the staff .. they are all incredibly good and make you feel that managing and running a camp in the bush seems the easiest thing in the world ( and we know it is not)… they really deserve a “Bravo!”
Safari to kruger ( 15 minutes to reach the gate) included in the rates , and also very close to Sabi sands; they arrange safari there ( try at least once) for a small extra cost . With all this next to your camp, you’ll have the chance to spot the big five and many more animals in very few days. Overall a wonderful stay for newbie and also for weathered safari guys . price/quality ratio 10 on 10… amazing ! Thank you all guys, and see you very soon again!

We stayed at this lodge for our very first safari experience, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. From start to finish, everything was exceptional. The entire staff and especially the guides were incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming.
The tents are beautifully set up and very comfortable. We were initially curious about the lack of air conditioning, but it turned out not to be an issue at all: the ceiling fan keeps things pleasant during the day, and the nights are cool and refreshing.
A special mention goes to the chef — the dinners were outstanding, easily comparable to fine dining restaurants we’ve visited elsewhere.
We couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to safari life. Highly recommended!

This was the most magical trip and we highly recommend Buffelshoek Tented Camp! Dudley and Lynn are so amazing in welcoming guests and making the stay absolutely amazing. The guides for the game drives are fabulous! Both Beckson and Elvis were so committed to making sure we saw all that we wanted to, even if it meant driving across the reserve! We saw the big 5 and so much more! We had shared that we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and they helped make it such an incredibly special day for us. On that evening we also had an elephant visit the camp! Wow!! This was definitely a bucket list trip for us and it far surpassed what we dreamed it was going to be!

Sabi game reserve is quite big with many private lodges...
Sabi game reserve is quite big with many private lodges inside. It is open to Kruger park, so animals are free to roam anywhere. The difference is that the ranger and tracker can actually follow an animal wherever they go (without entering Kruger). It is expensive , but if you can afford it, the experience is quite different.
The ranger and tracker that took us for a drive from Umkumbe were great. The ranger spotted a chameleon on the tree, in the dark, under the light beam from the trackers torch, at a distance of about 25m. We have no clue how!
Great experience to be able to go offroad in the vehicle and get really close to the animals. A leopard had hidden their kill in the tree, which we went back to after dark, when the leopard had come back. Unfortunately that was the only cat we saw that night. Saw a hippo and a hyena too, but that's just luck when you are out in the bush.
A family on the previous night had seen the leopard kill the buck as well.
The private Sabi game drive is expensive, and depending on how lucky you get, you might think it is either worth it/or a waste of money.

I paid 5,700 Rand for 3 evening drives in the reserve each lasting around 3 hours. I've been on many a game drive in the area over the years and when game spotting I am optimistic and realistic at the same time. I saw a 3 lions and a leopard along with other animals. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate my overall experience as 6. If I were to travel to the area in the future I would book 1 drive and concentrate my game viewing in Kruger Park.

I have never seen so many leopards on a safari before.
I have never seen so many leopards on a safari before. We had a wonderful view of a watering hole from our lodging. There are many places to stay with different options for price and ambience. Was a magical stay
