The cabins were very comfortable. We also very much appreciated the private bathroom and shower. The food was thoughtfully and deliciously prepared. The staff was very helpful and attentive. I do have to say a special thank you to our wonderful and funny guide Joel.

Exceptional location in the middle of the rainforest. From our cabin we could see and hear the ocean in the distance. At night, there is no human-made light to be seen or sound to be heard. Instead, the night is filled with the sounds of the rainforest: cicadas, birds, howler monkeys.

The individual villas provided wonderful views of the lagoon and ocean. Views from the bathroom was a bonus. Owner/hosts were very friendly and accommodating and directly supported the evening discussions. Room was quite comfortable and basic. Expect to see and hear birds of all descriptions right from your private terrace.

With Matapalo Beach reachable in a 6-minute walk, El Remanso Rainforest Lodge provides accommodations, a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a private beach area.

Exceptional in every sense! Staff were all stand out in terms of efficiency, helpfulness and going above and beyond. The food was fabulous, fresh quality ingredients that were well prepared and beautifully presented. The lodge itself is crafted from gorgeous materials and they take their sustainability seriously. Right by the beach and secluded and quiet with great wildlife. Place has strong fans and good windows and air flow. Hammock outside with a sloth and monkeys in trees. Carlos is the best host ever and goes out of his way to make his guests feel at home. I had a back injury while staying with him and he bought groceries and drove me to places and after I scratched my car helped fix it and take me to a local body shop. His kindness and help will stay with me forever. A true angel.

Ted's place is incredible and feels like the perfect slice of Pura Vida! Getting to Matapalo is an adventure and the accommodations are rustic and open to the environment, so be prepared for bugs, monkeys, birds, sand, etc. Only the bedroom and bathroom have doors that you can close off. We LOVED this aspect of it, but we understand this isn't for everyone. Ted was very helpful in sending directions and we found his place no problem. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Ted, his two wonderful dogs, and some curious monkeys hoping to score our fresh groceries! He showed us around and immediately cut open some fresh coconuts for us to enjoy. The beach is steps away and you can even hear the waves from the jungle bungalow. Ted is a super accommodating host and helped us find everything we needed. It's amazing what Ted has done to make the property a place guests want to return to again and again! Matapalo is a slow-paced beach community and we fell in love instantly. The road through the neighborhood is not for the faint of heart. We had a normal SUV and faired just fine if we went really slow. If you like relaxing on the beach, hiking to waterfalls and waking up to the howler monkeys every morning, this place is PERFECT. There are a few resort restaurants nearby if you want to break up the beach-hangs. We highly recommend giving Martina's a visit (this is a local place, not a resort). All-in-all, we loved our experience here and would 100% recommend Ted's place to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the natural beauty Costa Rica has to offer.

Casa Trogan is all about the location! Right up from the beautiful beach. Lots of wildlife and birds too. It's a very clean place and the hosts are very responsive. Great kitchen for cooking too!

Located in Puerto Jiménez, a few steps from Platanares Beach, Nereus has accommodations with an outdoor swimming pool, free private parking, a garden and a terrace.

The location is amazing with comfortable rooms (AC), a salt water pool and a protected beach steps away. We loved getting to know our fellow travelers while relaxing at the pool or beach. Additionally Nereus' friendly staff were able to provide local trips in the area, we went on a tour of the Corcovado National Park on a standard tour. The staff was able to customize days fishing and paddle boarding with the Captain Tom, who was able to tell us about everything around us. Their onside Massage Therapist/Yoga instructor, was there when we returned to help provide additional relaxation and services after our days of adventure. The food is excellent, they provide a large quantity of locally sourced food for delicious family style meals. We had a wonderful poke bowl / sashimi from that day's catch that would rival any sushi restaurant. The meals are served so you can pick your favorites and easily accommodate those with diet restrictions. Their staff is amazing and we can't wait to return.

Casa Osa Azul provides air-conditioned rooms in Puerto Jiménez. This beachfront property offers access to free Wifi and free private parking. The country house has private entrance.

Property right on the beach with everything you need; clean and spacious room, big bathroom, air conditioning, fast wifi, shared kitchen with private refrigerator in your room. Also, cooking oil was provided in kitchen. The area was quiet and the property only seemed like it had 3 units, making a more intimate environment.
