What can we say? An unexpected and memorable stay here in this super comfortable room where we were thoroughly spoiled from beginning to end. Shehan, you are the perfect host and think of everything! Highlights of our short stay included walks along this stunning beach, the jeep trip to the safari where Shehan expertly and respectfully located so many beautiful animals including the pinnacle of the sightings – the majestic Lucas the leopard – and his queen too. We also saw a cobra! Finally the food! What culinary delights – the coffee cake on arrival – the beautifully cooked lobster and red snapper with elegant salad and rice – and a breakfast worthy of a 5* restaurant. All round top class! I had an amazing stay at this hotel and truly enjoyed every moment. The room was beautiful, very clean, and I had a private pool which was absolutely stunning and well maintained. The view was breathtaking and made the experience even more special. What really stood out to me were the details. The hotel really makes you feel the full vibe—even the water bottles had a tiger design, which was such a unique and stylish touch that reflects the whole theme of the place. The food was delicious, and the chef did a fantastic job. The staff were all friendly, helpful, and welcoming—especially the front desk team who were very professional and kind. A special thanks to SAYURI at the reception—she was incredibly kind, friendly, and very helpful throughout our stay. I also booked a safari trip through the hotel, and it was such a great and memorable experience. One of the most special moments was during dinner when they surprised my sister with a birthday cake, which was such a thoughtful and lovely gesture. During check-in, I had an issue with my card, but they handled it very kindly and allowed me to go to the room and settle in, and pay later once the issue was resolved. I really appreciated their understanding. Housekeeping was excellent, and the spa was beautiful and relaxing. Overall, it was a perfect stay and I highly recommend this hotel. I would definitely come back again.

Stay here to experience a mini safari before your safari! This place is amazing! It is in the national park 'buffer zone' and is teeming with life. There was a wild elephant at the end of the driveway the first night we stayed! From the deck we saw peacocks, squirrels, bats, land monitor, different birds as well as the friendly cows that come to the house in the evening for safety from the leopards. Hansa and Sa are fantastic hosts, cook unbelieveable food and the place is well set up and very clean. The beach is metres away and you can get fantastic sunset photos. It is close to the national park, which means it is a distance from shops, we knew beforehand, it doesn't matter as you can have all your delicious meals there. Hansa even got some very fresh buffalo curd with special treacle delivered for us to try.

From the moment we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable. Every team member remembered my food allergies across all three meals, ensuring I could dine worry-free. Their attention to detail and genuine care made all the difference. Beyond that, they even provided fresh aloe vera for our sunburns a small but incredibly thoughtful gesture that speaks volumes about their level of service. The entire experience was luxurious, personalized, and truly exceptional. If you’re looking for a place that combines stunning nature with five-star hospitality, this is it!

We loved everything about the Uga Chena Huts. The location is amazing with an elephant, monkeys and a range of other animals being seen around the property. The food was the best we have had - wonderful chef who changes the menu daily. The staff were exceptional, from our safari guide to the wait staff and room staff. They made our stay!

This quiet little cottage was a perfect place to base ourselves for a few days while we explored Yala, Lunugamvehera, Udawalawe, and Ella. Our hosts, Gayan and his family, went above and beyond to ensure we had a happy and comfortable visit, and we were honored to be their first guests through Booking.com. Their kindnesses included such touches as providing us with limes from their own tree and preparing us a special breakfast (including delicious milk rice) on our first day. They also showed us around town and even helped my friend find a shop that had some particular things she was looking for. The property itself is cozy and beautiful. If you sleep in the front room (the one with the king bed and small bed), you can fall asleep to the sounds of the distant sea even with the windows closed. If you prefer a more silent night, you will find that in the back room (the one with the loft bed). The front room opens to the outdoor living space you see in the photos. It is a beautiful place to sit with your morning coffee or to relax in the afternoon. The back room and the kitchen open to the outdoors, and there is a paved walkway connecting the back room, the kitchen, and the outdoor living space. There are friendly dogs who will hang out with you on the property, but they do not enter the porch/living area or the rooms. They are sweet, calm, pleasant company. There's a good restaurant next door, which is convenient for dinner. You could cook in the well-prepared kitchen, but we did not do this during our stay. We also did not walk to town, although you probably could. The hosts are planning to add a couple more rooms to the property over time, but for now, it's just this one perfect little cottage. Much as the name suggests, Garnet Yala Beach truly is a gem. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a place near the parks who wants a peaceful beachy spot hosted by a lovely family.

I did not stay here while in Kirinda due to limited space (the owner and I connected on Whatsapp and he helped in finding me another property nearby) but most of the people in my group did. I wanted to write a review based on my experience with the property and the communication with the host when they realized that they were double booked. We had dinner for 16 there and it was amazing. The Host family is great and the property is in an amazing location. My friends that stayed there loved it. It’s a little bit more expensive than some of the other options but from what I could see it’s worth it!

Amazing property, amazing staff and amazing facilities. Has to be one of the best hotels I have stayed at by far. There is nothing in this facility that I would change!

Spacious rooms, great balcony, clean and warm pool. The owner is a great cook! Breakfasts and dinners were really good. The hotel is new and clean. Considering that there are almost no shops and no evening life in Kirinda, it is very (very!) important to select a good hotel to have access to good food and some entertainment - pool and good chat. This hotel can offer you this.
