I specifically came to Tasmania to see a platypus in nature. My favorite animal. The location, Latrobe, was recommended by my son's friend. My son lives and works in Canberra, so we visit every year to site see parts of Australia. When we arrived the manager greeted us. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. When she recommended Mersey River in the preserve. I was so excited to finally see a platypus up close. Breakfast was great and the room was wonderful.

This place is a hidden gem in East Davenport! Very quiet, except for the sound of the surf. Well equipped with dishs and plenty of towels. Nice view of the ocean. Highly recommend!
