This was a truly memorable and awesome stay for us in Kumano. We were kindly welcomed in a house filled with figurines, games and toys from the early 2000s. The host was extremely kind and even helped us set up a projector to watch a movie! One of the most unique stays we’ve experienced in Japan so far! There’s also an incredible restaurant nearby called 食堂 あお where the owner speak English and we got to taste the best fish we’ve ever had! Overall highly recommend!!

Location was perfect, 3 min walking to the train station and short walk as well to convenience stores and gas station. Our host helped us renting a car since we don’t speak japanese. Always responsive and caring. We would definitely stay there again!

It was a beautiful place away from the hustle bustle of the city. The owners are very friendly. Very good place to do stargazing. Do check out the falls on the left side on the main road. A quick morning walk up the road from the accommodation is also suggested. Just a suggestion to people staying: Pack some food or snacks as the nearest restaurant is around 7-8kms away.

You stay/rent a Japanese house all for your self. Perfect for traveling with family, and/or a group of friends that needs a washing machine, and peace and quiet. Its next to the main road, but traffic is not a lot on weekdays and as the house has its own fence, it blocks direct sound from the road. For night time, you would not hear a thing.
