The place felt authentic to the original structure, but with modern amenities to keep you comfortable.

Such an amazing place to stay right in front of Lake Biwa, you can see sunrise from your front room, and mountains with train track at the back of your room. Oh, you can do fishing too! The fishes are huge!

- private cabin, quiet, in room hot bath - plenty of space for the car in front of the cabin, convenient for moving luggage around - load of space in the cabin as well - two large comfy beds - convenience store nearby (7-eleven)

The property is so comfy and homey. Oji chan who works there are extremely friendly and hospitable. Not to mention the location and the architecture? Amazing. 10/10. The breakfast area was an old 100 years japanese machiya. Highly highly recommended! A huge plus, they offer free bikes as well.

Everything was amazing! The distance from the train was small and downhill. The host was phenomenal, she made us breakfast and each day was a different region. She also had amazing recommendations on where to tour. I want to come back to Kyoto again just so I can stay there longer!

We love our stay at this 宿坊. The host family is very friendly and nice. It is located at a quite neighborhood, walking distance to Philosopher's Path and other temples. The room is very clean and cozy, it has private backyard, you can see beautiful maple trees through the screen and hear birds chirping in the morning. Such a wonderful experience!

I absolutely loved this place. It has a beautiful traditional Japanese style that made the entire stay feel very special and memorable. I especially enjoyed the bath — after a long day of walking, soaking in it completely washed away all my fatigue and helped me relax deeply. The space felt incredibly peaceful, especially with the two windows and the lovely scenery outside. It was quiet, calming, and truly a place where you can unwind. The bed was very comfortable and warm, and I was able to rest really well each night. Everything in the house was very clean and well-maintained, which made the stay even more pleasant. On top of that, the staff were incredibly kind, friendly, and welcoming — they made me feel very comfortable from the moment I arrived. Overall, everything was perfect. I truly enjoyed my stay and would definitely love to come back again.
