We loved everything! great hot spring, great food, comfy room amd futon, great staff service :) Many Yukata variety was also fun. Facility was fun with karaoke room, game rooms, massage chairs, comic reading space etc. It was close to everything also. Private bath reservation was a surprise option especially for my foreign husband with tattoo. However it was competitive to book, hopefully they add one more private bath space :)

I love the close to old ryokan ambiance and the onsen is the best part.

The hotel was clean and offered a good service. The room I chose was exactly as described. The hotel had a public hot spring water but I chose the one with private air bath in the room and It was the best decision. It’s easy to get if you have a car and offered free parking.

A spacious and comfortable room, excellent service, pristine facilities and just a 10 minute walk away from the local train station. For value, it feels like a five-star hotel. A perfect place for a stay in a prime location for a hot spring, with a refined feel that punches above their weight even when surrounded by more luxurious and expensive hotels.

The hotel stays very close to the lake, there are travel passes around the lake and in the area. The hotel itself is very good, with onsen, massages, massage chairs, and table tennis. The breakfast and dinner are delicious with a huge variety of food. The hotel also provides a home kimono.

The staff at this location are absolutely amazing. We needed to catch an early bus and the provided a quick easy breakfast to go. We really appreciated that.

Great staffs, very attentive and helpful, their English is pretty good, too. We stayed in the Annex Wing, which is the renovated one. The building looks old but the room is very well-equipped with modern facilities. The room is also very clean and spacious. The window offered us a peaceful view over the front yard of the hotel with mountains in the back and autumn foliage. Our booking includes breakfast and dinner. Both are delicious with fresh ingredients. The menu is a bit limited though, in terms of variety of food, and we need to pay extra for some dishes. Still, we were happy with the size of the portions and quality of food. Last but not least, PERFECT location: just next to Shinkyo Bridge and a few steps away from the main Shrines. We could visit all of the main attractions on foot. There are also bus stops in front of the hotel, from which we can go to Chuzenji Lake as well as Nikko station. Overall, we enjoyed our stay a lot and felt very welcomed at Nikko Kanaya Hotel.

We stayed in the Deluxe Japanese-Style Room with Private Bathroom Garden View 2 floor. The room was very large and comfortable with a great view, and we enjoyed the bedding on the tatami. All the food was delicious and very visually appealing (there was also a gluten-free option which was very nice). It was great to be able to book the private onsen for my partner and I. Service was top-notch and location and grounds were superb.

Located on lakeside. They have shuttle bus from Nikko station.

Second time staying at Sunshine. I truly think it is great value for Kinugawa Onsen. The rooms are luxurious, the onsens are beautiful and serene. I love the foot bath cafe, and the view and bridge in autumn are spectacular.

The dinner was a surprise! It was a buffet style shabu, with many choices to put in the pot. There were many other prepared foods too. The breakfast buffet provided both Japanese and American choices of food. Everyone should be able to find enough choices to be satisfied. The room was cozy and clean, and I loved waking up to the peaceful view of the river.

Great location with bus stop right in front of the hotel, nice public bath and traditional Japanese room with futon beds. Very friendly staff. Would stay here again if ever come back to Nikko

Staff were fantastic, especially the Auntie!!! She was so kind, helpful, enthusiastic. The dinner and breakfast were incredible, super authentic, traditional Japanese style. The room was spacious, clean and fully equipped.

This was a delightful small family hotel . Loved the private onsen . The room was extremely comfortable. The staff was amazing . We thoroughly enjoyed our stay .

Dinner n breakfast was well presented n delicious. Dinner was allocated at a private room which was nice n quiet. The lady manager came to say thank you in Japanese which we had difficulty to understand but it was a very warm gesture and made us feel happy. Booking.com should always offer plan with dinner n breakfast for onsen hotel in Japan. Having Japanese kaiseki dinner set at Nanae was an unforgettable experience. Arigato Nanae and specially to Sato san who help us to carry our luggage from a distance away at hotel entrance.

Lovely service and meal, great attention to detail like supplies in the bath and welcome treat.

The staff was super friendly and they offered to pick us up from the station when we arrived and they took us to the train station in the morning the next morning. They even provided recommendations to a local ramen shop nearby that had been amazing. The room was super clean and nice to stay in for the night after a day visit to shrines.

Hospitable Staff, reasonable accommodation, clean beds, new towels daily, kitchen and amenities. Very accessible to the train and bus stations.

Location - this area is tops for exploring nearby. So much to see in the area: Japanese history (2 shrines in easy walking distance) plus international embassies, but the most spectacular are the waterfalls. View of the lake from the room is so picturesque. The room is very basic but always clean. It was cleaned every second day of my stay. The hosts don’t speak much English but they are still helpful and the map of the area with nearby convenience store and cafes marked is a great reference. The bus stop is nearby which can take you further up the mountains to waterfalls, lakes and onsens or you can hike all the way and catch the bus back. The buses are easy to navigate and very regular.

Very convenient to local shops and food. Room was a good size for myself and 2 others to sleep in. There was plenty of bedding provided and it was very clean. The view from the balcony in the room and the view from the lobby is one of the best features of this location!

The breakfast and dinner buffet are really good! And the onsen is very nice!
