Room was spacious and clean. The hot spring in the balcony was fantastic - watching the sunset while sitting in the hot spring! Dinner was great too! I didn’t expect they serve lobster sashimi! Everything was fresh and delicious! I will definitely come back to this hotel !

It sits right on the harbor at Kii Tanabe. Spectacular sunsets and sunrises. Great onsen waters. Hotel chefs accommodated my need to be gluten free perfectly despite how difficult it is with Japanese food. That kindness will always be appreciated. Great staff!

The hotel was a fun experience. It is a traditional ryokan and onsen. We did feel slightly out of place with being one of only a few foreigners, but everyone was nice and accommodating. The food was delicious and the atmosphere majestic.

The whole experience is soothing and comfortable. From the interior design to the dining and Onsen experience, everything is great. You can truly relax by spending the whole day in the hotel. Start with the onsen experience, the enjoy their dinner meal, rest a bit in the room thereafter and enjoy onsen again. Outdoor, private and indoor onsen are all great, even the unisex onsen is great, and clothes are provided if you want to enter.

Location for kumano kodo is great, theres some restaurants and cafes right in front of the hotel plus a supermarket. sadly they close at 5 pm so get your stuff early.

Very convenient stop along the Kumano-Kodo route. We brought our own food for dinner and the host set up a nice table outside for us. Everything was very clean and the host is really nice.

Super cute little place, absolutely LOVED that I had a whole room to myself! Great location, just a couple minute walk to station, the beach, and a family mart. Super happy they had laundry machines on-site, and the host was very kind and helpful and had lots of information in English! Overall it was the perfect place to stay the night before starting the kumano kodo trail.

Giovanni and Yutaka, the hosts and owners were very thoughtful and accommodating. We rode on his truck going to their farm where their goats are and it was super fun! The meals prepared by Giovanni, featuring his award-winning goat cheese, are very artfully prepared and served, not to mention very delicious!

This is an excellent private room / guest house prior to starting your Kumano Kodo. Quick walk to and from the train station / tourist agency. Plenty of restaurants abound in the near area, but make reservations! Air conditioning worked like a charm in late July with high humidity. The 2nd story balcony / porch was great for hanging my clothes out to dry.

This is a very nice Japanese style guest house on two floors. Our group of 5 were the only ones staying there, which was great, as we prepared to embark on walking the Kumano Kodo the next day. There's a shared kitchen, living room, along with shared toilets and showers. Very comfortable and tastefully decorated, and only a very short walk from Kii Tanabe train station. Once we found the person who checks us in, she was very nice and helpful. Excellent value.

What a cool experience staying in a traditional room.

Kochang and his wife are the best host. The homemade dinner and breakfast are excellent. We will go back there for sure to bring our extended family over.

Very authentic old house in great condition. The location was oerfect for starting the Kumano Kodo. It would not have been for goung other places.

Ugh! What a lovely experience! Quiet, unique, and the host is kind, caring, and the food was delicious! And the driver to the trail was a huge help! Totally different than a hotel and a great experience!
