Please read on because I have some very special things to say about this property and why I think it is a wonderful place to stay.
Let me be honest and say that if you want a luxury 5 star hotel with modern facilities, this is not for you, This is a traditional and older island home, so not very modern but clean and comfortable with everything you would need including a fully equipped kitchen (no microwave) with a big fridge and a washing machine to do your laundry after a day hiking or swimming.
What makes this place so special is its host, Yasna Ika, who was so friendly and helpful, and its location. It is right next to Ahu Tahai (you can see the moai from the porch) and the covered front porch, with table and seating, looks out across the dirt road and grass to the ocean. At night, go to sleep with the sound of breaking waves (and the occasional barking dog :-) ) and a sea breeze through your open window. In the morning, wake up and watch the guy on his dirt bike round up the horses outside and take them back out of town. Then walk up to the tiny mini market behind Ahu Tahai and buy fresh mangoes.
Go to the sea bathing pools at Pea and Hanga Vare Vare. They are just 10 minutes' walk away, as are all the best restaurants along the sea front and the harbour.
In the evening return to your porch and have a drink while you watch the sun go down or join the mass of people coming to watch the sunset at Ahu Tahai. They will be walking past you and wondering how you managed to get such a great spot. Then say hello to the lady who brings out a table in the evenings with little stone moai that she makes.
You could stay in one one of the big, modern hotels at the other end of town but you would miss out on so much. This place embraces all the most magical parts of island life. We wish we could have stayed longer.

United StatesThe place was comfortable, and it was nice having a kitchen to use if we needed it. Jackie was excellent with communicating and a great guide as well. She picked us up and dropped us off at the beginning and end of our trip, and drive us around to the sites and explained everything. She was very helpful when we had an issue with our trip and had to change the dates and times.

Warm-hearted young couple with lots of helpful information run H o H. Apartment is cozy, cute and spotless. All the restaurants, cafes, handicraft shops and the seafront are a walk down the hill. Tours pick you up at your location. Beautiful experience.

Beautiful location (nicer than in the village). Very clean and convenient apartment, with nice veranda. Quality of the house better than most of the others.
Very interesting and informative tours of the village with Christophe, the landlord and the guide at the same time. These are not big group tours: we were just 2 of us, max could be 4.

Wonderful location with amazing sea view. Very clean, nice big kitchen and bathroom. The sun beds in front of the hotel are just great to relax, hear the waves, watch the cliffs.
The host is a very friendly and helpful lady. She is also great with recycling. So 10 points for sustainability as well!

We enjoyed staying in the hostal. Maria, the host, helped us with various things, she was very friendly and attentive. The value of comfort/location/price is ideal. The price is low as compared to the hotels, it is locatied not far from the center of the city, near the beach, Ahu Tahai where you can make amazing photos of the sunset is within walking distance from the hostal. If we come back to Rapa Nui, we will book the hostal again with no doubts. Thank you very much!

A perfect location a little away from downtown Hanga Roa, ideal for watching sunsets and enjoying listening to the waves crashing in on the rocks. The little cabin would be perfect for a longer stay, maybe we didn't need it for just the 2 nights, but it felt a bit more private which was nice. Jimena was so lovely and warm and welcoming. It was a really amazing 2 days on Rapa Nui.
