Weissensee has always - now for almost 20 years - been one of my favorite places to be. Strandhotel only adds to the whole experience. The entire staff is kind, attentive, and always willing to help or advise. The room (112 in my case) was spacious, impeccably clean, and designed in a modern alpine style; comfortable and offering a wonderful view of the lake. The food is not just food - it’s a story, a carefully thought-out concept. Everything is vegetarian or vegan AND organic (!), and if you think that means limited choices, you would be very wrong. Honestly, it’s probably the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had. The dinners are in a class of their own: creative, light, nutritionally rich, and full of diverse flavors. The spa center is another top-level highlight, with astonishing views from every angle; clean, spacious, and right on the lake. The gym is also among the best hotel gyms I’ve ever seen. I’ve stayed in many great hotels, but this one truly stands out as something special. I will definitely be coming back. While it may not seem inexpensive at first, you realize on the very first day that you are getting far more than what you pay for.

We enjoyed the breakfasts and some dinners as they offered many options. The staff catered to my food intolerances wonderfully. The Spa area is small, but has all you need (2 saunas, 2 infrarot cabins, Dampfbad, showers, toilets, lounging area, pool with 'swim jet', etc)!

The location is amazing, with its own little lake access, plenty of parking space, and direct access to the mountain. The rooms were comfortable and spacious, with a view of both the lake and the mountains. And the owners were very helpful and friendly.

We went in the off-season.

We went in the off-season. We were probably the only tourists in the whole village. Very-very quiet and deserted. Just the way we were hoping to have it! So, if you want action, water sports - go in the summer. If you want winter action, parties - go right after Xmas. But if you want absolute relaxation, peace and quiet - go when we did, before Xmas.

Loads to do if you like the outdoors.

Loads to do if you like the outdoors. Hiking, mountain biking, swimming and all sorts of water activities. The mountain views are beautiful and you won't run out of ways to spend your time. I hear it's great in the winter too, if you're that sort of madman.

All in all, our stay was superb.

All in all, our stay was superb. The village is nice, clean, easy to track. We had a great time. However, the ice skate booking is quite hectic and the Intersport personnel seems to be incapable or not interested in clients. Although we went there in the afternoon to book for the next day, the guy said we should book by mail. When we booked by mail, we got an answer that booking by mail is not possible??! And, of course, booking through the site was not possible either, as the skates we wanted were not available. Whatever the reason, this should not happen in the middle of the season in such a place, where everything should be about tourism and satisfied clients. Luckily, we had great hosts, who gave us skates for free 🙂 Thank you

The lake is exceptionally beautiful, probably the most unspoilt and least developed of the Austrian alpine lakes and unlike most lakes you can walk for around much of the lakeside with views of both the lake and mountains on natural paths, in an unspoiled natural environment (forest, meadows or wetlands and reedbeds) and with no road running beside the lake. There is also an amazing range of walks on both sides of the lake through forests to alpine meadows (with huts) and mountain peaks. The quality and range of the nature is amazing. The lake is beautiful, full of fish and warm enough to swim in in high summer. Nearby places of interest are Gitschtal, Gailtal, Millstätter See, Maltatal, which are within easy driving distance.

I was looking for a camping in the area and I found this hotel/vacation apartments on Weissensee. I got the single bed room and it was more than expected for the price. Clean, in a great location, and the staff was wonderful (no problem with the English language). The option to use the bar until 23.00 is great to relax and enjoy the long summer days. I stayed only one night but I will consider again in the future for a relaxing weekend.

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were spotless and very comfortable. The restaurant was outstanding, led by a Michelin-star chef. To make our anniversary extra special, the chef even prepared a beautiful cake for us, which was such a thoughtful surprise. A truly memorable experience—we would happily stay here again! Also bonus points for the cuteness of Qiu!!

We stayed in an apartment with a lake view, which was amazing. Everything was clean, very well equipped. The apartment had everything we needed. It is clear that the house is very well maintained. Extremely nice and polite owner. Very comfortable beds. Beautiful garden leading to a pier just behind the house - absolutely wonderful. Highly recommended.

Lovely hosts - extremely friendly and accommodating. The area is beautiful as are the views over the lake. Breakfast was great - plenty of cereals, fresh bread rolls and different meats/cheeses/jams etc. Fresh eggs.
