We really enjoyed our stay in the Portofino room. Lovely room with fabulous bathroom. Lovely idea of the "friendly bar" and we did enjoy the coffee. My only comment would be to provide teaspoons. Easy to reach on the number 10 bus from the airport. Quick and easy to walk into the centre. The staff were very quick to answer any questions and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend or return! Thank you.

FAQs about hotels in Salzburg

The Hills Are Alive in Salzburg

Made famous for its “hills alive with the sound of music”, Salzburg is a very pretty town filled with romantic buildings and squares. If you are not yet aware that Mozart was born here, then you will be as soon as you land at Salzburg W.A. Mozart International Airport.

Further your education about this musical prodigy at his actual birthplace, Mozarts Geburtshaus. The city is the namesake of the Salzach River which runs through it, and alongside this beautiful river lays the Schloss Mirabell, one of the many impressive castles within the city limits. Schloss Mirabell and Hellbrunn with their picturesque gardens, beautiful galleries and impressive halls make the ideal spot for a picnic during summer.

The white-stone Hohensalzburg fortress is perched upon a green hill and offers magnificent views over the city. Or, you can escape it all in the Kapuzinerberg forest, which offers splendid Alpine vistas- a reminder of Salzburg’s natural beauty.

The shopping centre focuses around Alter Markt Square and Getreidegasse, the latter is a quirky street with old-fashioned signs indicating what each store sells. With 125 hotels and guesthouses available on Booking.com, your stay in Salzburg is bound to be as pleasant as this city is pretty.

There is plenty to do in and around Salzburg.

There is plenty to do in and around Salzburg. I spent the weekend here but easily could have spent another day or two! It is easy to walk around, and I only used public transportation to get to and from my hotel (slightly farther from city center). Highlights include Fortress Hohensalzburg and St Peter's Church. The Mozart Birthplace and Residence are nice but overrated. For food, I recommend Lieblingsplatz Cafe (for breakfast/coffee) and Johanneskellar (for dinner).

Salzburg is a beautiful city with a rich and fascinating history. It's very tourist-friendly, and the Hohensalzburg Fortress is absolutely worth visiting. We had dinner at Alter Fuchs twice during our stay, and it was excellent both times. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious, authentic Austrian cuisine. We also visited Augustiner Bräu, which offered a completely different but equally enjoyable experience. It had a lively local atmosphere, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in experiencing the region's traditional beer culture.

Salzburg is one of the most amazing places to visit in...

Salzburg is one of the most amazing places to visit in Europe. I've been there twice, and I'd happily go again. The music, breathtaking views, cleanliness, efficient public transport, and delicious food make it a truly memorable destination. A few tips from my experience: Avoid visiting during a heatwave (above 32–35°C), as it can become quite uncomfortable. Skip the amphibious ride if the temperature is above 30°C. The glass windows trap heat, making the inside feel around 6–8°C warmer than outside. If you're planning to visit the cable car, the Salzburg Card is absolutely worth it. The panoramic views from the top are stunning. I recommend getting the 2-day Salzburg Card to make the most of the city's attractions and transportation. Salzburg has a unique charm that keeps calling you back. It's one of those cities that feels just as magical on a second visit as it does on the first.

The city of Salzburg is small and compact. but beautiful and offer a lot of things to see and do. The soroundings are also beautiful and very close to the city. We did some nice hikes and one day we travelled to Munich and everything was close and easy to get to. When you sleep in a hotel in Salzburg you reciev a mobility card for free public transport in all Salzburgland and its great we used it alot.

Salzburg: home of wonderful churches, small accessible mountains, Sacher torte, Wiener schnitzel and small cafes. And of course, the palace where Sound of Music was set. It is also home to helpful and friendly people. Maybe a little on the expensive side, so bring the Visa card!

We went to Sazburg for a week and expected to get enough of it in a couple of days. I didn't happen. It's a charming town, and there are lots of out-of-town activities to do during the day - one could take a cable car to a mountain, go to a lake or visit a nearby town.

Nice, cosy hotel close to Mirabell Palace. Good connection via busses to the airport. Twenty minutes walk into the old town. I stayed one night in a single room. It was quiet despite the room facing the street and being directly next to the elevator and staircase.Comfy bed, very clean. Ok value for money. Was one of the cheapest options in the centre of Salzburg at the time of booking. Friendly staff. Tea and coffee available for free all day long in the lounge room. Honesty bar in the bar area.

The hotel is located just outside the forecourt to the Salzburg train station. It was convenient to local bus services in the city. It was just a 15min walk to Mirabell gardens and from there a quick jump to the old town. The bed was really comfortable, the room a good size, staff were very helpful.

Hotel Bristol Salzburg exudes history and has been very well maintained. The location is excellent, right next to Mirabell Gardens and only a stone’s throw from the Old Town. The room was clean and charmingly old-fashioned. The highlight is the hotel’s varied and high-quality breakfast.

This is a large, comfortable and very well run hotel conveniently positioned half way between the station and the old town. We particularly liked the breakfast room, restaurant and bar on the rooftop with great views across Salzburg's rooftops.
