Our room was very clean and tidy, and the biscuits were great! Staff were helpful with a good suggestion for dinner (shout-out to Rynn's Seafood down near the big Mango), and the pool was lovely for a dip after a long day on the road.

We rented a beachfront cabin, so we were able to see the ocean from our room, bought bait onsite and did a little fishing off the fenced wall right outside our door. Not sure on public transport, but glad we had our car to get to shops and explore Bowen and surrounds. Cabin was comfortable and clean and a good size for 3

Moved to air b&b opposite beach that was amazing.

Moved to air b&b opposite beach that was amazing. Morning walks along boardwalk watching turtles. Lunch and dinner at pub meeting other travelers. Beach walks. Amazing scenery and birds. Lovely location.

We loved the Cape Edgecombe walking trail.

We loved the Cape Edgecombe walking trail. Birds Fish Bar was great for dinner - has a lovely back verandah overlooking the boat harbour. We also really liked Louie's Artisan Cafe for breakfast pastries. We ate at their tables but they don't have a view so if you had more time you could pick up some items and take them to the foreshore to picnic.

Bowen Tavern has awesome staff who found a table for us even though the restaurant was booked out. There is an excellent kids play area that kept our little one excited and entertained while we dined. Beach front has a water park, skate park and playground. The wharfe is always busy and worth a look. There are lots of interesting things around town noting the history of the place. From Bowen town centre, its a short drive to bays where the Great Barrier fringing reef are easily snorkeled - coral and fish of all kinds. This mainland location lets the kids play on the beach, we can eat at the cafe and playgrounds which is a much more cost effective and family friendly Great Barrier reef experience than the boat charters to the heart reef. The fish and chip shop at the wharfe has the best views and beautiful food, playground and bar. Flagstaff hill and 360 are a must see. Can't rate Bowen highly enough. And don't forget to get a photo with the BIG MANGO. :)

Bowen is a beautiful coastal town with amazing beaches and views. Not many interesting shops to browse through but lovely cafes and marina restaurants didn't disappoint. A must do is a visit to the Grandview Hotel. A lovely, historical pub with friendly staff and great food.

Would be better if you had a car. Taxis were unreliable , we ate near horseshoe bay one evening and had to get a lift home from a waitress in the restaurant as the taxi did not come back to take us home ( coral hotel ) the staff there were so nice and helpful . Horseshoe bay was lovely .Not a lot going on in town centre when we were there between Xmas and new year .

Bowen is a beautiful place, a bit laid back, with so much to do. If you love nature, Bowen is a place to be! I enjoyed every moment. The beaches there are excellent! I had dinner at the Bowen Hotel (restaurant), the food was delicious, they had a wide variety too. Bowen is not too big, so it’s easy to get around. There are lots of activities too especially if you have kids. Don’t forget to pack your swimsuits!!! There are lots of beaches to explore.
