Loved this hotel, the decor, the greenery, the facilities, the margaritas at the crane bar, the sauna and pool - I was sad to leave! We stayed here for the Lady Gaga concert and the location for this was exceptional.

The location was perfectly central, we could just walk up and down flinders lane for the restaurants and bars we researched ahead of time without realising it’s just on the same street. Going to Southbank, little Bourke and little Collins for shopping and is a quick 10 minute walk. Of course, W hotels always have modern and well designed edgy rooms and amenities.

FAQs about hotels in Melbourne

Buzzy Jewel of Aussie Rules

A thoroughly liveable city, Melbourne has a buzzy vibe and an Aussie sense of fun. There’s always something going on, and one of its many festivals is Moomba – Australia’s largest free arts festival. Well worth a visit are the National Gallery of Victoria and the Melbourne Aquarium, where you can walk through a clear tunnel as sharks swim over your head.

The city’s most recognizable landmark is Flinders Street Station, whose yellow and green façade matches the color of the historic Melbourne trams that still run around the world’s longest tram network. Keep an eye out for the street art as you travel.

Shopping in Melbourne is fantastic. Queen Victoria Market is the largest open-air market south of the Equator, while the La Trobe Street shopping center has over 300 stores. For food, don’t miss Little Italy - the Carlton area.

South of the Yarra River is St Kilda, home to the best beach and Albert Park, where the F1 Australian Grand Prix is held. However, this isn't the city’s only sports heritage. It’s also the home of Aussie Rules soccer and the MCG, a must-see for cricket fans.

Booking.com has a range of Melbourne accommodations from hotels to hostels and motels, some near Melbourne Airport.

Used to live there - was great to go back and catch up with old friends and rugby mates. Walking the city, lunch and a wine in the Block Arcade, a meal at a pub on Southbank and a wander around the casino. Easy train ride out on Sandringham line and tram to Middle Park all part of the trip. Easy city to get around. Hectic. Loved being back. Staying at the Grand Hotel at the bottom of Spencer Street made it so easy.

I came to Melbourne to visit a couple of Wineries by Helicopter with friends. The team at Leisure Heli Tours put on a great experience to Mitchelton Winery and Dominique Portet. Already booked another winery tour with this company. We also visited Melbourne CBD for drinks and dinner. Great nightlife, food, and perfect weather.

The public transport system is great !!

The public transport system is great !! And when you consider the extreme destinations of the rail network and the cost to get there ,you don't really need a car ( admittedly it does help to be physically capable - I'm 84 and lucky enough to be able to walk ). A Myki Pass is a must, especially for Seniors.

Melbourne is one of those cities that seems to have everything: a vibrant restaurant and nightlife scene, interesting museums and art galleries, a parliament building and great shopping. Plus, in the CBD there are the free trams, which can help you explore without costing an arm and a leg. The Botanic Gardens are a great place to wander and lose yourself for a couple of hours, and a walk alongside the river can enrich your mind and health.

The Nesuto Docklands is clean welcoming hotel with great staff. Situated above a shopping centre with Woolworths, Chemist Warehouse and Coffee shops what more do you need. It is a short walk to the free tram to take you up into the Melbourne CBD. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms are airy with a lot of natural light. If you are staying in the Docklands area I would recommend it.

The service from the majority of the staff was fabulous. Especially the entrance security staff member, and the staff member who valeted our hire car for us. Both extremely helpful & lovely gentlemen. The hotel itself was amazing, as you would hope, such a quirky, lux, industrial feel - loved it. Also a great location, very central. Love how Melbourne CBD is very walkable for a large city.
