Such a cute, cosy little cottage, containing everything you need for a great holiday experience, very relaxing, and great location to the many wineries. So many in walking distance. For supplies the little store down the road has a good range, but Penola is only a 10km drive to the Foodland supermarket. We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay and would love to come back again down the track. Thank you Pyrus Cottage owners for an awesome stay.

Maria was just lovely and extremely accommodating. We really appreciated how friendly and helpful she was, she made our stay over Christmas excellent ! The rooms are like little cabins, everything is neat and breakfast staples are provided. We used the shared BBQ area and found it easy to use (a little trolley with accessories and cleaning products is provided). We enjoyed sitting in the courtyard with a glass of wine, it's very peaceful.

We all had heaps of fun catching yabbies in the pool. The place was very chilled and relax. pet friendly. kids also enjoyed roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. There a lot of options of different levels of camping/glamping to suit your taste. Very friendly staff.

We had an absolutely wonderful experience here. Belle was the perfect host—thoughtful, welcoming, and full of helpful details that made our stay extra special. The decor has a really fun, eclectic, artsy vibe that still feels warm and homey. The fresh flowers from the garden were a special touch. Fresh bagels and hot coffee in the morning were such a great touch, and honestly, we just wish we could have stayed longer. Belle also gave fantastic recommendations for wineries, as well as great tips for Adelaide and Kangaroo Island. Do yourself a favor and book more than one night—you’ll be glad you did!

Coonawarra is so much more than vineyards: Penola is a large part of the Saint Mary McKillop story. Just a 30 min drive to the Bool Lagoon and Naracoorte fossil caves. Loop over to Dergholm and Kybybolite for the massive eucalypt trees. Also, it’s only a half hour drive to Mt Gambier.
