From
PolandFantastically located with a touch of Outback experience. They gave us some firewoods and a pot so we cooked our meal on the open fire under the stars. Highly worth while!

Kings Canyon is breathtaking.
Kings Canyon is breathtaking. The rim walk requires fitness, balance and courage but is amazing. Please please please be quiet when you visit! The inane talking from humans truly ruins these sacred places. Leave the kids at home.

From the friendly welcome, to the well organised operations...
From the friendly welcome, to the well organised operations of the outback bar and everything in between - this is a well thought out resort. Natural features incorporated, walking paths from all accommodation facilities, clean, modern and comfortable rooms, additional activities available (highly recommend the sunset bar, we enjoyed the vocal talents of Tom H - adding nicely to the atmosphere and light show). Upon wandering, the camping ground was well structured - spaces provided between sites and stunning views of Kings Canyon. We felt one with nature and yet able to enjoy the comforts of a room.
Oh and breakfast, a vast selection and flavoursome!

Amazing Australian landscape.
Amazing Australian landscape. Rim walk is a must but need to have a moderate level of fitness. Things start early and close early (restaurant kitchen last orders 6.30pm) which is different to being in the city. You just need to be aware so you don’t go hungry. Kings Creek Station accommodation gives you the authentic outback experience. We saw wild dingoes and brumbies for the first time. They also have camels and cattle, but not roaming free. The dingoes howling in the night was an eerie feeling and the next morning paw prints all over the red dirt - they were definitely close by, not my imagination.
Would definitely recommend both Kings Canyon and Kings Creek Station.

Great location and range of accommodation options.
Great location and range of accommodation options. Budget rooms could be improved with a few details eg hooks for towels and clothes; dustpan and broom for dust; central amenities block was clean but lacked soap in showers and toilet locks needed fixing. Camp kitchen was good. Evening meal and breakfast were good and staff efficient.

The rim walk is a wonderful and "character building"...
The rim walk is a wonderful and "character building" experience! Steel yourself for the long and steep initial climb, take your time and you will be rewarded with a spectacular and beautiful walk knowing the worst is over at the start. It's not easy, but I managed it at 74 without being particularly fit and with little preliminary training. Definitely best attempted during the cooler months - I was there in July/August and it was not very hot and no flies!

A fantastic place to visit.
A fantastic place to visit. The rim walk was amazing, although would require a reasonable level of fitness to make the most of it.
Highly recommend a helicopter ride if you have the time and budget. We used the company just down the road from the Kings Canyon Resort and they were highly professional. You get a different persepctive from the sky.
We arrived on a Sunday in the afternoon which left us enough time to do the short walk along the bottom of the canyon from the visitor car park. We did the rim walk the next day and also visited Kathleen Springs. The next day we did the helicopter ride and then did a short 8 km return section of the Giles walk from the Kathleen Springs end. It helps if you have done some hiking as some of the blazes showing the trail were a little hard to locate in a couple of places. There was a lovely water hole at the end of the walk which made it well worth the effort.
Highly recommend visiting. The sunsets are very pretty.
