There are so many great things about this hotel, the location was the most outstanding, it is centrally located, surrounded by shops, restaurants, grocery stores, tourist attractions to name a few. And if you don t want to drive in an unfamiliar place, the metro station is in a walking distance. If you have a car, parking is available and free at the hotel.

The museum was excellent.

The museum was excellent. Exhibits very well presented - particularly the display of uniforms and models. Very informative and something for everyone whether a Waterloo expert or uninitiated. All parts of the battlefield and areas of interest well signposted. The panorama was exceptional as was the view from the Lion's Mound and definitely worth the climb. Take walking shoes.

Waterloo was more than we expected.

Waterloo was more than we expected. Plenty of cafés, bars and restaurants. Public transport really easy and convenient for us. We spent a day in Brussels, a day in Ghent and a day at Waterloo. The museums and historic sites around Waterloo were fantastic. Some great pubs in Ghent near the castle . Waterloo brewery has a great restaurant. The Dulle Griet pub in Ghent was a great experience .

FOUND THREE SUPER RESTAURANTS AND A GREAT BISTRO FOR LUNCHES. LOTS OF SHOPPING OPPORTUNITIES . TRAIN STATION WITH A GOOD LINK TO BRUSSELS . MUSEUM AT THE BATTLE OF WATERLOO SITE EXCEPTIONAL , TAKE OXYGEN IF YOU INTEND TO CLIMB THE MOUNT. GOOD ROAD LINKS TO OTHER SIGHTSEEING SPOTS.

The Waterloo Battlefield is the site of one of the most...

The Waterloo Battlefield is the site of one of the most important conflicts in history. Like author Victor Hugo, I could have spent three months there! Usually 2-3 days is enough for a complete immersion. I lead battlefield tours there and at other sites in Europe and the USA. @historical_leadership (instagram).

The Ibis is the perfect place to stay if visiting Waterloo...

The Ibis is the perfect place to stay if visiting Waterloo Battlefields and museums. Waterloo has shopping bars and plenty of places to eat. The Ibis is in the centre of everything and easy roads to exit with plenty of garages. there is a sports bar next to the church opposite the Wellington museum. There are plenty of snack cafe,s and restaurants. Everything is walking distance from the Ibis. There are frequent buses with stops near the Ibis.

Waterloo was perfect for our stay in Belgium.

Waterloo was perfect for our stay in Belgium. We wanted to be close to Brussels without being in the city. We spent one morning at The Lion Mound, which was incredible (highly recommend) and then we went into Brussels, which was stunning. (again, highly recommend). The next day we took a drive out to Ypres to see the WWI trenches at Sanctuary Wood. It is an amazing preservation of history, and you can actually walk the trenches and tunnels. Then after that we continued on to the museum and beach at Dunkirk. The driving wasn't bad at all, and we finished the day back in Waterloo for dinner.

The breakfast was not included & was a bit pricy for what it was. Very convenient location for visiting Waterloo museums (one Wellington’s HQ)just 150m away make sure you get the 3-site ticket if you’re serious. If you can only make it to 2 sites, buy them separately 😉). Nice garden. Quiet, despite being so near the High St (it’s behind other buildings). The young female staff were all very pleasant & helpful.
