A great little boutique hotel, recently built. Everything new. The couple in charge are extremely hospitable and try their utmost to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast is super and so is the food they cook during the day if you feel hungry. They will help you arrange tours in the area. Highly reliable people. Highly recommended place.

Nice accommodation in Santo Amaro and a perfect spot to explore the Lençóis. Joabel and his family are super friendly and welcoming. There’s an open‑air kitchen and a patio full of plants and hammocks where you can hang out before or after the tours, cool down, socialise with other guests etc. Their coffee was delicious!

Every base in Lencois Maranhenses is special for different...

Every base in Lencois Maranhenses is special for different reasons. But Santo Amaro has the best views of the national park in my opnion. It was really special doing the tours from there and understanding how big this national park is. The town itself is very simple, but cute. We were lucky to be there during the Festa Junina.

super close to the park entrance, very close to some favored...

super close to the park entrance, very close to some favored/popular lagoons. we went during October off season but there was still a couple lagoons with surprising depths of water to them. If I ever find myself in Brazil again, I'll shoot for peak season.

Santo Amaro is gorgeous and my favorite place in Lençois...

Santo Amaro is gorgeous and my favorite place in Lençois Maranhenses. Plan on 3 days to visit ponta Verde, Emendadas, and Circuito Betânia and Lagoa do Junco. We hired AMC Turismo and they were absolutely amazing. Dunas Bistro is great too, delicious food and gorgeous decoration.

Santo Amaro is the best option to stay when visiting the...

Santo Amaro is the best option to stay when visiting the Lençóis Maranhenses. You can walk to the entrance of the National Park and up the first few dunes to watch the sunset without having to pay for any tours. However, there are amazing options for full and half-day tours to various lakes among the dunes. A tiny town with very few dine-out options but there is a very nice restaurant in town (Cajueiro) and a few homemade food places that are very affordable. We stayed for 4 days and it was just the exact time needed to go out on 5 tours and truly enjoy the dunes, lakes, sunsets, and night sky. Definitely a MUST GO location.

We spent 3 nights and 4 days in Santo Amaro visiting the dunes. It was by far a better jumping off point than Atins or Barreirinhas BUT the other two are a bit more attractive with somewhat more to do. Since the only reason to be in the area is the dunes next time we'd stay only in Santo Amaro.
