I initially just wanted to stop in Gander to pay homage to "Come From Away" - see the memorials, check out the 9/11 exhibition at the Aviation Museum, check out the town, and then be on my way. But I found myself wanting to stay at least another day, if only to try out another meal at Rosie's Restaurant, and go for a wander around Cobbs Pond. While at East Ocean Chinese Restaurant, the only non-chain sit-down restaurant that was open on Canada Day (that we happened upon, anyway), the server told us that the Gander International Airport lounge had recently been opened to visitors and that there was an exhibition about the lounge's history. It was a great recommendation and I loved both the lounge itself and the exhibition. The people that we met in the short stay here were also lovely - just like you hoped they'd be. I am looking forward to my next visit to Newfoundland where Gander will definitely be a destination and not just a stopover!

We enjoyed Gander, we found a great restaurant in town that served exceptionally good food and a very good price. One very surprising thing is we found Gander to be one of the cheaper places to visit on our trip in the Maritimes. The people were very very friendly. We took the 1.25 hour trip to Twillingate for an iceberg tour which I would recommend to anyone. It was worth the 3.5 hour trip from St. John's trip to go to Gander and I would do it again.

People were nice and were helpful.

People were nice and were helpful. Gander is a must for anyone interested in Aviation history and the role Gander played over so many years. It is only 1.5 hours from Twillingate where iceberg watching is excellent.

We enjoyed one day and night in Gander.

We enjoyed one day and night in Gander. Really enjoyed the stop at Gander International Airport with the history and the connection obviously to the 9/11 events. Our stop at Silent Witness Memorial was sad but interesting to learn of these events. We had a fabulous meal at The All New Rosie's Restaurant. Delicious and so much food. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Gander.

Gander is a very interesting town.

Gander is a very interesting town. It has a lot of aviation history of the early days of flying. It is a scenic town with lovely residential areas. The people are outstanding as you will find if you see the snow Come From Away. A very relaxed place to visit.

Gander is not a very big city, but convenient with having an airport in central Newfoundland. There is a lovely park "Cobbs Pond Trail". A small mall and groery store nearby and incredibly friendly people :)
