Our stay at this property in Marbella was truly wonderful. One of the highlights was how private the pool felt, it was a great space to relax without feeling crowded. The location of the house was excellent, and the modern design and décor were both stylish and comfortable. The house is beautifully constructed with every convenience in mind: the kitchen was fully equipped, and the spaces were spacious and well laid out. Being inside a gated community gave us a great sense of security throughout our stay. The complex also has an amenities area, though we never needed to use it, the house itself had absolutely everything. Highly recommended!

Amazing location. Really private right on the beach. Property was fantastic: comfortable, great bathrooms, hammocks and an outdoor grill if you’re so inclined. Alejandro couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. I had a wonderful stay and would do it again in a heartbeat.

I really enjoyed the quiet location and the nice walk to a very private beach. The pool was fantastic, but above all, what was incredible for me was that I was able to bring my dogs. They were free to roam on the property and on the quiet road outside. That was the cherry on top for me:)

I had a wonderful two-day stay at Treetops Inn Bed & Breakfast in a private bungalow overlooking the Pacific Ocean. One evening I had Karen cook me dinner. She prepared an incredible five-course dinner that was absolutely delicious, beautifully balanced, and made with so much care. After living in New York for 20 years and dining at many top restaurants, I can honestly say her meal was just as good — if not better. Breakfast each morning was also fresh and wonderful, served with a stunning ocean view. Karen and Jack are warm, welcoming hosts who make you feel right at home. If you appreciate amazing home-cooked food and a tranquil setting, this place is a true gem. I’d like to come back there sometime soon.  Kate

The house is very cute and spacious. The host is very nice and accommodating. The restaurant next door is good and reasonable. Great local beach within walking distance. Kitchen is equipped for simple meals. Washing machine is available, just be prepared that it does take clothes a long time to dry. This is a fabulous off the beaten path place! You will get a more local experience than at a hotel.

What Guests Said About Playa Azul:

Scored out of 10, guest rating 10

Playa Azul is a hidden gem of a resort.

Playa Azul is a hidden gem of a resort. I booked it at the last minute as I had a few more days to stay in Costa Rica. We came from the bustling town of Tamarindo via the coastal route (which was mostly small unmaintained dirt roads) through Playa Avellanas where we stopped at the famous Lola’s for lunch. Playa Azul is just the perfect place to relax and unwind. The location is secluded and feels exclusive. The rooms are incredible and you are steps from the beach. If you book the ocean view rooms you can watch and listen to the waves from the hammock on your balcony. There are geckos and iguanas all over the property. Despite the remote location, there are two restaurants on site that serve decent food throughout the day. The staff were all wonderful and booked several excursions for us which were highlights of our trip. The hotel is 10-15 minutes from San Juanillo and Marbella. San Juanillo is a tiny village but it boasts one of the most incredible beaches I’ve ever visited. Also, the “food truck” in town served some of the best patacones, burritos, and empanadas ever. Restaurant Cocobolo across the street also had great food and beers, plus an incredible view of the ocean. If you head the other way toward Marbella, Soda Victoria is worth checking out too. Highly recommend this place. We will be back.

If you're looking for an 'out of the way' place to stay and relax, you can't do better than this place. The pool is fabulous and has a swim up bar, and both restaurants had excellent food. The grounds were beautiful and well kept, and the staff was absolutely fabulous, even calling us by our first names by the second day. The room was very comfortable, the bed was great, the shower was superb (good water pressure) and the A/C worked like a charm on those humid, overcast days.

We ate at the hotel for most meals - food was very good! I would go back for a private, romantic weekend. Pool is beautiful and while there were a few games I really wouldn't recommend it for a family vacation. Definitely better suited for adults.

There is nothing here at all apart from the hotel.

There is nothing here at all apart from the hotel. The beach is lovely, but so are lots of beaches all over Costa Rica, and many have little places to buy a drink, or some food. If you are staying at the hotel and just want to go for a walk it is great, but definitely not a destination beach imo

It's an amazing place.

It's an amazing place. The beach is too dangerous for young kids, but there are other nice ones nearby. To get there, you need a transfer of a tuff car that can handle dirt roads. We made a few trips nearby and if you plan to go to Nosara, be sure to have an experienced driver and a car that can cross rivers (4x4 car). Besides that, the place is just astounding in all aspects. Wifi is fast enough even for a heavy data user like me. The swimming pool is great, and the barmen are always available to do some fancy cocktails.
