Madama Residence is an excellent hotel and restaurant right in the heart of Nicosia. Coming from Finland, I was pleasantly surprised by how much it reminded me of elegant Italian hotels—warm hospitality, stylish rooms, and great attention to detail. The atmosphere is cozy yet refined, and the food is outstanding. A perfect place to stay if you want comfort, character, and a touch of Italy in the middle of the city.

Simply wow. Didn’t expect to find such a hidden gem in Nicosia! Amyth Nicosia just opened and already feels like a secret you want to share—but also keep to yourself. It’s a small palace tucked in the heart of the historical old town, full of character, elegance, and charm. The design is stunning, blending luxury with local heritage in such a thoughtful way. Every corner feels curated and intimate. But the real surprise? The restaurant. Absolutely out of this world. Every dish was a journey—beautifully presented, bursting with flavor, and served with warmth. This place raises the bar for Nicosia. Can’t wait to return.

For myself, I love Nicosia, but whether or not it is other people's Cup of tea would have to be for them to judge. It is vibrant, I always felt safe, and is a lovely size to go exploring. For anyone interested in the local vernacular construction, there is plenty to see.

I was only there for a day, but I think it was more than enough. Some curious things to see, if you like history there’s a couple good museums, but that was it. It’s not a city I would visit again. Something just felt off about it.

We were centrally located and within easy walking distance to all sights of interest, having previously stayed several times in Nicosia we know of several places we return too and recommend The Gym (great food & cocktails in a modern environment, decoration very unusual and onsite boutique) Henry's Restaurant ( Large menu to suit all tastes and again fabulous cocktails) we always visit the Nicosia Race Meeting if the schedule permits again don't bother with a bus trip (due to change in route doesn't now drop you near enough to the racecourse) a taxi from the Bus Station is convenient and inexpensive.

If you go to Nicosia try to stay in the old walled city and then walk. This whole area is full of fascinating architecture and people, mostly young, with small businesses and artisan outlets. Don't be shy and if you see something interesting just ask if you can take a look.

Nicosia is the most interesting town in Cyprus where ancient culture and history meets modern architecture, quality shops and vibrant city life. Crossing the border to Northern Nicosia is an absolute must. Experiencing the Turkish part and seeing the amazingly renovated Selimye Camii was the highlight of my visit in Cyprus. Wandering into historic ortodox churches while listening to the muslim's' call for prayer and visiting a gothic cathedral converted to a mosque felt like time had stopped a bit in the middle ages. The divided capital has a research worth history and an interesting mix of East and West. Traveling in February was great because the weather was pleasant (18 Celsius during the day) and only the locals were ín town so there were no waiting at the border station or at any of the sights. Getting around on foot is easy although road reconstructions are going on everywhere in the historic part. You can find excellent and cheap restaurants from Armenian food (I had a great lamb souvlaki for 3.5 Eur and lahmajoun at Avo Armenian Food in the center) to traditional Turkish and Cypriot places and Syrian sweets and desserts just to mention a few. The town has a buzzing vibe even during the winter and despite the political division and conflicts it feels safe and lively. I did not see the UN peace keepers, any military or police anywhere during my stay and the border crossing was efficient, quick and easy too. It was absolutely worth visiting.

WE were participating in what was effectively a Walking Orienteering "Competition" across the entire city. We covered lots of ground all over the Old Walled City with tasks and info gathering to be accomplished. So we saw a good deal of the place, fabulous for shopping, historical experiences and dining. Of course its not all "Nice", but you can find your own preferred "Haunts". I love the Hurricane Cafe very close to the Ledra Street Crossing, it has family connections with a close friend, for example, so I try and look in on every trip. They specialise in "Sweets" andthe interior has not changed since the Second World War (Now, that IS History)...and you WALK in the walled city. A wide range of places and styles for eating and resting.

The Classic Hotel is a beautiful hotel located in the centre of Nicosia. The rooms were cleaned every day, the restaurant served a very good breakfast and once we also had lunch there and everything was very good. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The hotel as a whole is full of many facilities including a restaurant, a wonderful bar serving delicious cocktails, a gym, a spa, a reading room and a beautiful courtyard with a beautifully decorated interior.

It's in a good location, great for the bus station or crossing to the Turkish side. I had left my jacket in the hotel with my wallet, and the owners phoned me immediately to collect it. Great customer service and nice rooms. Recommended to everyone who wants a centrally located accommodation within walking distance to all major attractions.
