In fairness, I was staying at the hotel on one of the deadest weeks of the year (right after New Year's). The location is two towns over from the relatives I was visiting, but was by far the best option available as most hotels are closed in early January. The room was immense, right under the roof but not too many beams or slanting walls. There was only one window but a large one. No refrigerator, but a desk and a vast bathroom with walk-in shower. The bed was very comfortable. The temperature was pleasantly warm despite the occasional snow, and the radiator could be adjusted. The staff were uniformly pleasant and accommodating, they went out of their way to make up for the post-New Year's lull. When the full breakfast buffet was available, it was vast. I had a key fob that got me admittance after the front desk closed (8 pm). If you are visiting Tripsdrill, the region's huge amusement park, it's quite close by. There is a bank two blocks away and a bus stop closer still. And there are unexpected attractions available in walking distance: right around the corner is a really good museum of Roman artifacts from the Zaber river valley, which was full of Roman farms and settlements, and the town of Güglingen itself (very little explanation in English, though); and there's a lovely shop, Genuss und Kultur (Enjoyment and Culture), only a few blocks' walk or a very short drive away that carries all locally made gifts, food and drink.

The property was very clean, private and well appointed for a comfortable stay. Marcin helped us out enormously on the evening of our arrival when a few things went wrong for us - Marcin hadn’t even met us yet, but showed incredible kindness to help us out. A wonderful man.
