This is by far one of the best hotels I’ve stayed in in Siwa, and I’ve stayed in five others during my previous visits. Everything about this place exceeded my expectations. The facilities are excellent, and what truly stands out is the staff. They are incredibly helpful, attentive, and genuinely treat you like family, which makes the whole experience even more special. The rooms are very comfortable, and the outdoor spaces are beautifully designed. There are plenty of seating areas in the garden where you can relax, unwind, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. The hotel also offers both a swimming pool and natural hot water springs, which add a unique and relaxing touch to the stay. Another great advantage is that they can arrange professional tour guides, you can check them on Instagram “ Yallah Siwa Travel”; who will plan your trips and take you to the hidden gems of Siwa, making your experience even more authentic and memorable. The breakfast is absolutely spectacular, with a great variety and high quality. Overall, I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Siwa and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable and authentic experience.

The owner of Hotel Talid, Mustafa, and his staff offer everything possible to provide a memorable stay in Siwa! Mustafa’s son, Omar, took us for several memorable excursions - to float in the beautiful salt pools, Cleopatra’s sweet-water pool, Mountain of the Dead (great ancient tombs), Oracle Temple (Alexander the Great also visited here), Siwa City, sunset over Siwa Lake, etc. The hotel arranged for a thrilling desert “safari” with an experienced/safe (this is important!) driver, Ahmed, that could rival any rollercoaster ride, ending with sand boarding and a sunset picnic in the middle of the Sahara! These are memories for a lifetime. A relaxing, special dinner was made for us on our last evening, served poolside, to cap off the Egyptian hospitality found here. The people of Siwa have a reputation for being kind - here they set the standard for kindness. Their population of 38,000 has maintained a close-knit, very respectful, and private society with their own language (totally different from Egyptian Arabic) for centuries. We hope to return in the future. We visited during mid April. Temps were pleasant in the morning and evening. Mid day was warm. High season is October-March. Tourist buses or flights from Cairo are the easiest transportation to reach Siwa. It is a distance, but a unique experience, different from the rest of Egypt.

It is a raw, pure place not yet spoilt by civilization.

It is a raw, pure place not yet spoilt by civilization. The local population are extremely friendly (you don't get to see a lot of women around - very conservative culture). The only place women are allowed to work is the weaving factory and I encourage visitors to go there to support this tradition. What astonished me the most is the honesty of the people. There are no thefts in Siwa. We bought a few items and left them in the open tuk-tuk to go and visit a place with no worries. They even have a whatsApp group for items lost and found. Humanity still exists here. If you do not have a car, tuk tuks can take you everywhere. There are a few restaurants (Mama, Abdu, Alyemen) and prices are reasonable. There are a lot of flies and mosquitoes so you need to cater for that. Kejar hot spring (hottest in Siwa) is know to the locals and Amani Yegden and it is not on Google maps. The salt lakes are a must see - blue gems in the middle of the desert!

Siwa offers an authentic village-style experience where development has not reached much and life remains simple and traditional. Two days are sufficient to cover all the major attractions. There are historical monuments, salt lakes, desert safari and camping options, natural springs, a short climb at Dakrur Mountain, and peaceful evenings at Breezy Island. Most locals speak only Arabic, so it is better to arrange day trips and transportation in advance rather than moving from one place to another on your own. Abdu Restaurant is quite famous in Siwa. I arranged a tuk-tuk from the Siwa mini bus station mainly to visit the desert and spend time there watching the sunset. The New Year party organized in the desert was a very good experience, with a DJ playing Egyptian music, crackers, and a lively atmosphere in the middle of the desert. I tried food from Abdu Restaurant and Badr Restaurant; it was decent but not exceptional. I first went swimming in the salt lake and then visited Cleopatra’s Spring, which helped wash off the salt afterward.

Swimming in the hyper saline lake by the salt mine, jumping into Cleopatra spring, driving around the sand dunes and sand boarding, dinner in the desert, late night markets were experiences not easily available elsewhere. The Mountain of the Dead and Amon Temple as impressive as many Egyptian landmarks but without the crowds. Most tourists are Egyptians from other parts of the country. As obvious foreigners, we were never hassled, never ripped off and felt welcome everywhere we went. When asking for places to shop, we were shown general areas rather than individual shops. We did tip for services, and while it was appreciated, it was clearly not expected. Need at least two days to see and enjoy the town; three would probably be better. There are no street signs so getting around can be a challenge. Even our driver decided to hire his own driver, which was pretty funny as our driver then became a second tour guide.
