Quaint little town with an old Roman bridge over the river.
Quaint little town with an old Roman bridge over the river. Nice to stroll around. Lots of eating places and bars along with shops selling local produce especially cheese and pasteleria. You must try the carbayones local pastry. It is sweet with almond paste filling and tastes delicious.
Lots of adventure tours amongst others run from Cangas including hiking and kayaking/canoeing on the river that runs through the town. Plenty to do for those more active people.
It’s quaint charm makes it worth a visit although maybe July and August would be better to be avoided as it was very busy in July.

Definitely a holiday town with a good degree of history, including a Roman bridge over the river. We have stayed here before a couple of times on previous road trips so we knew we were on a good stopover.

Great little town with many restaurants and bars, mainly frequented by Spanish people and other tourists. Many families on holiday which made the place feel safe. I would consider staying there in the future as part of another tour.

Good location for exploring the park and surrounding areas. Town itself is nice but there's not much to see/do after the bridge. Head out to the park and drive to other locations in this incredible area.

Loved the town which had a good vibe.
Loved the town which had a good vibe. Would recommend visits to Lagos de Covadonga, Cares Gorge Walk, Cudillero, Llanes.
We enjoyed several bars and retaurants including El Horru Encantau. And not forgetting the local Sidra.

Cangas de Onis, is an interesting town.
Cangas de Onis, is an interesting town. We spent some time people watching at the Roman Bridge, strolling along the river bank and enjoying coffee and beer at some of the cafes and bars. Good choice of restaurants for day time and evening meals, catering for most tastes.
A good base for exploring the Picos de Europa and the wider area.

- the location is absolutely incredible. A 7 minute drive from all the facilities of Cangas de Onis but it's in a very rural location. Several hiking trails start right by the house. The views are spectacular.
- the house is new and very well insulated, with under floor heating so it is very comfortable
- the hosts were easy to reach via whatsapp (but not via the Booking messages)
- easy check in and check out (lock box)
- despite the points below, we had a lovely stay overall

Very centrally located accommodation in Cangas de Onis. Friendly owner who (despite not speaking English) was very communicative over the Booking.com app, and a basic but spacious room with a small balcony overlooking the main street. If you want luxury you should go somewhere else, but otherwise this is great value for money for a visit to the Covadonga lakes.

The house was very clean and in a fantastic surrounding. The road to the house from Cangas de Onis has the best views. It is very rural and narrow road, so it takes some 20 minutes from Cangas. 20 minutes of the best view.
The owner helped me after I found out that the wifi was not working. She changed it to another - a very good wifi.

Lovely apartment not far from Cangas de Onís in the foothills of the Picos de Europa - it was comfortable, well-equipped and well decorated. The host Niti met us with the keys on arrival and was very personable and communicative.
