We had a spacious room, suitable for 3 people, with a modern design and comfortable beds. There's restaurant in the hotel where pilgrims' menu is served. The portions are gigantic and delicious. The restaurant opens early in the morning and serves breakfast. There are tables outside, which are perfect to share a cocktail or 2 with your fellow pilgrims.

FAQs about hotels in Asturias

A Secret of Nature

From dramatic mountains of the Picos de Europa National Park to buildings precariously close to its Atlantic Coast’s sheer cliffs, Asturias is one of Spain’s best kept secrets.

In a valley, the capital Oviedo is an eclectic mix of architecture, great food and even greater nightlife. And for nightlife read ‘early morning life’ as things don’t get going until after midnight. Nearby Gijón is the region’s biggest city and well known for its cider industry and long, sandy beach.

With over 250 km of coastline, Asturias has an impressive array of beaches, many sheltered by towering cliffs. One such beach is Playa del Silencio near Cudillero. Along the coast the port of Aviles has a delightful French garden and the futuristic-looking Centro Niemeyer.

Popular Llanes to the east is home to some of the best Asturias hotels, and the coastline between here and Pendueles is absolutely spectacular. Ribadesella also has beautiful scenery where river meets sea. By a different river mouth is Luarca, a picturesque town curving around its harbour full of fishing boats bringing in excellent seafood.

Inland the scenery undulates in peaks and troughs, and beaches give way to fields where grazing animals far outweigh tourists. Here are more country houses on Booking.com, while most Asturias apartments, guest houses and hotels are by the coast.

Soto de Luiña was an absolute delight on the Camino. The albergue/accommodation was clean, welcoming, and had that calm, cozy vibe that hits just right after a long walk. The town is small but full of character, with a peaceful charm that made it easy to unwind. Slept like a rock and woke up refreshed and ready to go. A truly great stop — everything just worked here. One of those places where your Camino rhythm resets beautifully.

You should definitely not skip it. Get a guided tour of the basilica's tower, makes all the difference. Walk around and try any menu del dia in any restaurant, you won't be dissapointed! Go to Gascona street at night for a great dinner in any of the restaurants. If you are a group, try make reservations as they are all good and spots fill out easily. Take a stroll around the parks and check all the statues they have in the city as some of them are by famous sculptors!

Quaint little town with an old Roman bridge over the river.

Quaint little town with an old Roman bridge over the river. Nice to stroll around. Lots of eating places and bars along with shops selling local produce especially cheese and pasteleria. You must try the carbayones local pastry. It is sweet with almond paste filling and tastes delicious. Lots of adventure tours amongst others run from Cangas including hiking and kayaking/canoeing on the river that runs through the town. Plenty to do for those more active people. It’s quaint charm makes it worth a visit although maybe July and August would be better to be avoided as it was very busy in July.

Llanes is a great place to visit/stay, it has plenty of cafes and restaurants, but you may need to book restaurants to avoid disappointment. It has lovely walks and beaches nearby easily accessible on foot if a day visitor or staying locally. I would imagine it will become very busy in the main summer months, which may be a problem and spoil your experience.

Great food.

Great food. Our favourites were Zamburiñas, Pulpo a la gallega, Fabada Asturiana (Original)and of course the classic Cachopo. Special tip: Restaurant "La Guia". Always ask for a fresh mixed salad to share as products are often home grown/local. A great place as a base to visit places and beaches nearby. Covadonga, Arriondas, Poo, Llanes, Comillas, Picos de Europa mountains, etc.

We spent three nights and enjoyed the quiet village; the dawn chorus of birds, cows and cockerels; the welcoming eating places; a couple of shops where to get hiking clothes and walking sticks, if you forgot yours. Morning pastries, cider in a couple of sidrerias, dinner at Cafeteria Santelmo. We were knackered by the walks and the heatwave, so didn't eat out much.

Luarca is very beautiful , you fell the force of the Bizkaya in the entire city. It is not touristic at all, you rarely hear other languages than Spanish. The restaurants offer the most delicious and fresh seafood , the large variety of Bizkaya and Atlantic fish and regional food. You can have a walk on the 3 moles or climb up to one of the seaside hills. You should not be afraid of rain and a part of the buildings is empty and not well-kept, so there is some lost places charme.
