The room is spotless clean, and the maids clean the room carefully. The location is perfect so that once you're out, you can see many birds. We are birders so we booked this hotel, and we were satisfied although the weather didn't help us at all.

Very nice hotel. We stayed here for one additional night. Parking is for free next to the hotel. The village is a fantastic discovery - horses are everywhere on the streets, the houses look like something from a Western movie and the local people are very friendly. It feels like traveling back in time with a time capsule. The ocean is just 20 minutes away by car. The weather here in the evenings is very pleasant, around 23°C - breezy and cozy, probably thanks to the ocean. Definitely will come back next year.

The property is very authentic and clean. Abraham and his family is so welcoming and helpful with organizing everything. If you want to organize horse back riding etc, Abraham will make a phone call and everything is all set. Parking is so easy and we love El Rocío! The hotel is located in a very nice quiet area near everything. We would definitely go back there again. Thank you!

This was a large 2-bedroom apartment which was very comfortable and quiet. It is on the edge of town, within walking distance to the town centre. It was very quiet when we were there, which we really enjoyed after noisy apartment previously in Malaga. The reception personnel was very kind and friendly, very helpful.

A welcoming host met us at the door of this charming traditional house in El Rocio. The rooms were small but comfortable with a shared bathroom for us and windows over the quiet street below. We came to experience the natural environment and Donana Park and this house fit all our needs perfectly.

El Rocío is a town which sand roads and no tarmac.

El Rocío is a town which sand roads and no tarmac. It looks like going back in time. Lot of birds in the marshlands which is great for photography. The town is designed for horseback riding and a lot of events take place throughout the year. There are quite a few good restaurants and smaller bars throughout the town. Also recommend to visit the Matalascanas beach.

It is a very niche town for horse riding type people!

It is a very niche town for horse riding type people! Plus there is no vehicle access into Coto Doñana park, the main visitor centre is actually around 2 hours away in a circuitous route. Also note the town is not tarmacced and consists of sandy tracks with no traffic markings or real signage. Feels like you’re in a Western!! Due to the events being held, parking was a lottery and driving around the town was a challenge. Also it appeared that some cars were being charged for parking, although this was quite random. Some cars were even towed away. The partying that went on until 2am seemed at odds on the edge of a beautiful National Park. The highlight was a bar La Meson de La Madrai, decent food and nice atmosphere.

It was like return to another era!

It was like return to another era! or enter in a western scenario. We love it and we should come back during la Virgen del Rocio pilgrimage, because during our visit the village was a little empty, with a lot of shops closed. We dinner at a gorgeous restaurant named Aires de Doñana.

El Rocío is a very unusual and charming town- the roads are all sand which we’ve never encountered before. The lake is full of wild birds and a nature lovers haven with an easy boardwalk leading to an interpretation centre Which I think is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The town is very quiet and more than 90% houses are empty in this low season. Unexpected beautiful town view specially at the time of sunset. We expected to see some birds like flamingo, unfortunately see nothing. Few restaurants operated and very few guests. Most staff in restaurants and hotel can speak English and make me feel easy.

Its a 'one off' - we have travelled all over the world and its in our top 5 as its totally unique and a living time capsule. Brilliant and a definite location to put on anyone's 'BUCKET LIST' and to let your imagination run riot from the Conquistadors to the founding of the America's and the role Religion played. All with a focus on this unique area and the huge significance of the 'equine' industry to create an empire.
