On site parking. Very quiet rural location. Outstanding breakfast. (The owner's son makes the poundcakes.) Large room with a huge bathroom. Just up the road, the Bar El Castillo, opens its kitchen at 7:30 PM and serves honest, trucker-approved food at a good price.

We stayed in Hontanas while walking the Camino de Santiago...

We stayed in Hontanas while walking the Camino de Santiago because nothing was available in Hornillos del Camino, our planned stop. The village is down in a hole, so it can't be seen until you're only a very short distance away. Walking in during heavy rain, we weren't sure that the village's existence wasn't an elaborate practical joke.

Great place to talk to hikers or "pelgrims" on the camino to santiago. very friendly people. good place to sit down and have a beer of cold drink and enjoy the view of the surroundings and small village.
