I can’t say enough good things about this hotel! It is all the things you want from a place to stay. It is quiet, clean, has friendly staff and the bed was very comfortable. Plus there is a hiking trail with views of the Montserrat cliffs. It’s close enough to the monastery to be convenient for a visit but far enough away as to not be bothered by tourist madness. And the restaurant! Make sure to get the prefix lunch. One of the best meals we had in Spain! We had a much better experience here than at hotels that were twice the price.

Wow, where do I begin. We stayed 6 nights with our two kids (8 and 10) and had the most amazing time. Truly astonishing place, extremely friendly and helpful staff and breakfast is amazing. This place is located perfectly to go on hikes in the Montserrat area or to make a quick trip to Barcelona for the day as we did.

A must-see site in Spain.

A must-see site in Spain. The experience of catching the train then transferring to the right train was easy. The train ride up the mountain and later the funicular ride was an experience that we will remember a lifetime. The cathedral and surrounding plaza are breathtaking. We were fascinated by the history of the site as well. A must do is the walk along the paths around the site - various statues and monuments align the path.

Basilica was too crowed during the day.

Basilica was too crowed during the day. We paid for boys' choir visit at 13:00 but that was just 10-15 min long (3 songs). Feels like a big cash machine. We liked museum visit, suggest to plan enough time for that. We took cable car to the top and back. We enjoyed time walking on the top of Montserrat and taking photos.

Staying a couple of nights here allows you to experience the full atmosphere of Montserrat. The silence after the day trippers have gone is wonderful. We chose to go for several walks rather than compete with the crowds, and visited the cathedral and museum etc in the early or later part of the day. The choir is world renowned - book your tickets early if you can. We were fortunate to benefit from cancellations. Walking the path ways at the end of the funicular is doable for most abilities, as they are more graded than stepped.

Being there in the early morning, after staying overnight...

Being there in the early morning, after staying overnight was perfect. We were able to participate in the vespers at 6:45, go to mass at 7 am and see the Lady of the Throne at 8 am. We are early people, so having to wait until 10 am for a funicular out was frustrating, but worth the quiet morning at the monestary.

Like its good location, and free to enter the monastry if...

Like its good location, and free to enter the monastry if you are a guest in the hotel. Great to see the sun rise when there are no tourist, and you can pray quietly both in late evening and super early in the morning. In the stay, God also showed me extraordinary sign when I was walking outside at 5am. Definitely a sacred place.

The best is to arrive in the second part of the day and stay...

The best is to arrive in the second part of the day and stay over night when it is less crowded to enjoy the views and silence. There are few trails around the monastery. You may walk one of them before sunset and in the morning you may go to San Jeroni and enjoy the views before its too hot. You may ask for a trail map in the information office. You may go to San Jeroni without using funicular , just take steps next to Abbat Oliba statue and you will see pointers. You may also buy water in the machine in the hostel next to the statue. In the evening noone asked for a ticket to see Madonna although if you stay in the hotel you have free access anyway.

I had a very pleasant 3-night stay at the apartment. Most of what is needed is provided to make use of the kitchen. Nice view over the mountain and lovely to stay in Montserrat for longer to enjoy the walks around this mystical place. I will be back!
