Great location in a beautiful small town. A very good place from which to explore the surrounding area. Great walking and cycling routes all around. Lovely friendly people running the hotel and apartments. The hotel restaurant serves very good food at a reasonable price. The apartment was very spacious and comfortable. We paid for a parking space in the garage. The spaces are a good size and you are allocated one in particular for the length of your stay. They have put padding on the walls to enable car doors to be opened easily. Worth paying for as on street parking limited in narrow streets. The pool is very nice, not heated but warm enough in September when we visited.

We selected Santibáñez del Val because it was perfectly on route for our return from Marbella heading towards the Channel Tunnel. We had never heard of the village or El Jardin de Manuela. However, I'm so glad we gave it a try. The house was perfect with all modern facilities and with very thoughtful decor. Super clean in a really quiet but very pretty village. Our hosts were impeccable and so helpful. We only stayed one night but certainly wish we could have stayed longer. The surrounding countryside is beautiful with some breath taking views. We would definitely stay here again.'

The owners went above and beyond when we had to make a last-minute change to our itinerary. There was a small pool, which looked very inviting. Unfortunately we were so busy exploring the town that we did not have time to jump in.

Wonderful, cosy, quiet hotel. Breakfast was perfect. Shower 🚿 very good. Parking for the Harley (top priority) was parked right outside our room. Bed very comfortable 😁 Only thing I would say is there is no lift but it is only 2 flights of stairs. Owner very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful little village & cars kept out (ample parking on village outskirts). A number of bars in the town square to sit out at & listen to the swifts flying about. The monestry is in the center of the village & for a small fee , the cloisters are worth a visit. The bells toll every 1/4 hr - on time.

Silos is a lovely place full of very friendly locals.

Silos is a lovely place full of very friendly locals. particularly the monastery and gift shop run by the nuns. Its also the jumping off point for a visit to Sad Hill Cemetery. We had coffee in the Plaza cafe run by a lovely lady who has lived in the town for most of her life. We ate in one of the restaurants in the plaza because they let us sit in with the dogs as it was too cold to use the terrace. You will need your phrase book. There is no English spoken in the town.

The monastery is worth visiting.

The monastery is worth visiting. It has a beautiful cloister, as shown in the picture. It is a short visit, with some important artwork. The town is quaint, with lots of places to eat. It is definitely worth visiting the other two sister towns: Covarrubias and Lerma - Covarrubias is much more breathtaking. Sto Domingo de Silos is also near the recreation of "Good, Bad and Ugly" Sad Hill Cemetery. If you're a Clint Eastwood or Spaghetti Western fan, it's a must visit. Ideal weekend getaway just 2h away from Madrid and very close to the city of Burgos.

This is a very small town dominated by the monastery.

This is a very small town dominated by the monastery. It is a lovely town with old buildings and narrow streets which are lovely to wander around. We visited in the middle of September and at no time did it seem very busy. We visited the monastery . It has lovely cloisters and some interesting artefacts. There are some great walks locally and the roads are super for cycling, being in good condition without much traffic. el desfiladero La Yecla , with it's resident vultures, is worth a visit. We walked there from the town but if you want to visit in a car it has a large car park. There is a lot of publicity given to the Sad Hill Cemetery and you can walk or drive there from the town. Be warned that the road is mainly loose gravel and much of it passes through an area where a fire destroyed the trees in 2022. We walked to the Mirador, which has great views ,but didn't get to the cemetery itself. The roman ruins at Clunia are well worth a visit as is the beautiful small town of Covarrubias.
