Although on holiday when we arrived staff did everything to accommodate us, including setting us up with e fat bikes (cycling here is a must). Climate change has taken its toll, and there is almost no snow in my hometown in the south of Finland. In Sodankylä, however, there is still winter, snow, ski resorts nearby, and the winter weather I used to have. The town is small and expensive, as it is very hard to maintain anything at that latitude. However, there are two supermarkets and some dining places. The walking paths are nice regardless of the season. You may be interested in visiting the amethyst mine in Luosto. There is not much to do in the town itself. If you are lucky, you can still see the EISCAT radar dish until they take it down in April 2025.

Quiet place and scenic views. we did not have a car so only...

Quiet place and scenic views. we did not have a car so only could explore by foot. we went to Luosto amethyst mines and that was a day well spent. We went during summer (August 1st) and we could not experince the nightless nights. it was also raining and cloudy. We bought groceries from K market and cokekct at home since we are vegetarians.

The place is great, in fact, after staying in this facility we decided to use more appartements rather than hotels during our road trip in Finland. The staff was super nice and can be contacted by phone at any time. The key collection was easy and simple. The place was spacious and the rooms very comfortable. I surely recommend to stay there !

Probably the best/most tastefully designed use of space I have stayed in. Has everything you need, clean, midern. If ever back in the area, would definitely be my first choice, way ahead of hotels. Good, clear instructions for check-in etc and very helpful.

Good accommodation when staying with colleagues, in a good location in Sodankyla. Very warm and comfortable and ideal for a weeks stay as it had all the facilities we needed for cooking etc. The pub nearby seems to be part of the camp site.
