Excellent in all respects. As an hotelier/restaurateur I love this kind of proprietor run hotel. It is in a very quiet location, convenient for tourism, or relaxing in the grounds, or by the very well maintained swimming pool area. Well designed, comfortable, bedrooms, and bathrooms. Air conditioning! Helpful, welcoming, and efficient staff. There’s a bistro dinner menu on Monday and Tuesday. The rest of the week it is a menu gourmand. The choice is good, and the food delicious on each menu. This is a good idea. There are children’s options on both. The restaurant staff are very helpful with this. Unlike some “gourmand” restaurants this one is delightfully unpretentious in ambiance. Breakfast offers a good choice; including an egg boiler. Big plus. This is not a chain hotel. It has a delightful atmosphere, there are many personal, well thought out touches. It’s a great place whether you’re on your own or with children.

Chaumont was once an active fishing port so you can still...

Chaumont was once an active fishing port so you can still see the original fishing boats on the river. The village is charming. Every building is original and well preserved. The outside bar by the river is great but the village does lack another good bar/cafe. Also, if you don't want pizza or a galette, there is only one other restaurant. However, this restaurant, La Madelaine de Proust is EXCELLENT. Not only is it the best restaurant in the village, but also the best restaurant for miles around. Book now before it gets Michelin stars and the prices go up. The Chateau and its famous garden is well worth visiting but allow yourself a full day. Fortunately, the food in the cafes there is very good.

Easy to get around and close to the river with choices of...

Easy to get around and close to the river with choices of bars and restaurants. The Chateaux is a great place to visit with lots to see at the International Garden Show. You can drive up to the Chateaux were there is ample parking for both able bodied and disabled access.

We had a wonderful stay at this property as two families...

We had a wonderful stay at this property as two families with kids. The location is very quiet yet central to the main attractions and chateaus in the region. We used the BBQ on a few nights and the kitchen facilities made cooking easy. All rooms are on the same floor, only the bathrooms are at the opposite ends. The book of recommendations was great and there was advice on local restaurants and attractions which we made use of during our stay.

I found the couple who own the hotel very friendly and very helpful. It was very kind of the owner to pick me up and take me back in time to catch the train back to Paris, which was of great help as I do not drive and it is a fair walk from the nearest station!! It had been a problem catching a train from Paris, so picking me up was especially kind. I naturally would not expect them to do this for everyone! The sky on a clear night after 10pm when the street lights go out is a very special occasion??!!

The hosts Savannah and her partner, are absolutely amazing people. They have provided all the facilities any hotel would provide, at their 100 year old lil home overlooking the lovely Loire River. Savannah is extremely quick to revert for any help, and made us feel at home at her sweet homestay. A homely comfortable stay in Chaumont-sur-Loire. I will certainly come stay with Savannah if I return to Loire valley some day.

Nice swimming pool perfect to chill after a hot day. The hotel is located just across the street from the Chateau of Chaumont-sur-Loire which must be visited. You can buy your tickets directly from the hotel on a preferential rate.
