Great value and a wonderful experience. Clean Spacious rooms, in an old historic building full of art antiques and interesting interior designer touches. The owners obviously have a passion for their space. Free breakfast was a simple bonus I had not counted on. Value here is worth the price!

Very personalized and artistic decoration and design clearly with a lot of love and thought into making the rooms welcoming. The very warm welcome we received by the owners led to the beginning of a lovely stay. The rooms were big and comfortable and the property has a warm and welcoming vibe! That they run a really tasty ice-cream shop on the first floor is a big bonus!

Exceptionally well laid out and comfortable property. Everything has been thought about and essential every day items ready to make the stay easier. Very clean and in a great location easily accessible to shops for essentials, roads to attractions and a walk into town. Nathalie, our host was very friendly and helpful. Superb stay and highly recommend!

Lovely little town we arrived just before the annual music...

Lovely little town we arrived just before the annual music festival to view a property for sale. Based on what we experienced including Confolens, it’s indoor market building, the outdoor amphitheater, the riverside bars and eateries, the well kept commune areas and helpful welcoming French and English people we are buying.

Confolens is a pretty but small town.

Confolens is a pretty but small town. It is not great for restaurant choice out of season but we would stay in the area again as we found a nice place to eat and it was easy to walk into town from where we stayed. In summer it would be a good base to explore the area.

We only stayed two nights, passing through.

We only stayed two nights, passing through. Small town with few bars, cafes and restaurants, but quite sleepy with a lot of properties, sadly, boarded up. Still had charm about it. There is a castle / château at Confolens St Germain a short drive away, or a 1-hr walk each way. Great for a short stay.

I really don’t want to review this gem of a place for purely...

I really don’t want to review this gem of a place for purely selfish reasons. Great hosts and a lovely building very convenient for the village. We stayed as part of a tour on motorcycles with a group of friends, there’s even a garage for the bikes. Had we known in advance we we would have stayed for a few days, however we will be back at some point. Try the honey while you’re there as well, it’s lovely. Highly recommended.

What a great place. Full of character, within an easy walk across the bridge to the centre of Confolens and ideally located for exploring the area, John was communicative, answered any questions promptly and made sure everything was set for our arrival. The property was comfortable, spotless, well maintained and a pleasure to stay in. We will be back!

Had a bar & restaurant serving excellent food. Staff were very obliging allowing us to park our motorcycles round the back & under the hotel, very secure.
