I cannot recommend this accommodation highly enough. In truth, calling it an “accommodation” hardly does it justice; it is a castle in every sense of the word. I have travelled extensively across the world, yet Château de Bonneval stands out as the most unique and remarkable place I have ever stayed. Géraud and Marta de Bonneval were exceptional hosts, warm, gracious, and genuinely attentive. They went above and beyond to make us feel at home, even arranging a private tour of the château just for us. They also very kindly answered our many questions about the castles history. Their hospitality elevated our stay from memorable to unforgettable. Breakfast was beautifully prepared and elegantly served in one of the castle dining rooms. Our room, located in one of the castle’s towers, was filled with authentic period furnishings that made us feel as though we had stepped back in time. For anyone with even the slightest interest in history, this place is an absolute must. The lineage of the Marquis de Bonneval family stretches back a thousand years, and the château’s collection of tapestries, artwork, and antique furniture surpasses what you will find in the most famous castle tours in France. The difference here is that you do not just visit the museum; you get to stay in it. I truly cannot say enough good things about Château de Bonneval. It was a privilege to experience such history, beauty, and hospitality all in one place, and I am already looking forward to the day I can return.
