We were very disappointed with our recent Booking.com experience. The host canceled our reservation, but when we tried to cancel through the platform, we weren't offered a full refund. We had to call Booking.com to explain the situation, and finally received confirmation of a full refund with a small (€9) compensation for the host's last-minute cancellation. This situation raises concerns. Why ask guests to cancel if the platform doesn't automatically process full refunds in such cases? Additionally, if the host couldn't accommodate us, why was their property still available to book?

Unexpected astonishing place. A historical dwelling bordering a small river that meanders through Hesdin and is attended by Frank and Pauline. Nice display of sculptures and a small library. Give it a miss.

Give it a miss. Not sure why we stayed but tourist reviews said worthwhile but couldn't find the interests. Rather run down. In mid May virtually no restaurant was open on Monday or Tuesday without a drive to another village, and only a few on Wednesday.

We had had a house near Hesdin for several years and know the area well. It is an easy drive down from Calais. It is a small market town with the ususl amenities and a reasonable quality of restaurants. For fine dining, one could go to Montreuil, Le Touquet or Gouy St Andre (Le Clos de la Prairie is superb).

Check out opening times of restaurants as many are closed in the evening and Sundays and Mondays. We travelled there out of season so it may be different in the summer months . Everyone we met were very friendly. There looked to be some small boutique style shops but we didn’t get chance to explore them.

April is not a busy time but we love the area so much we have bought a house nearby. Just check opening times for places before you choose what you are doing for the day and you'll be fine for dinner later on. Lots of supermarkets about so that's super convenient.

Nice quirky hotel... a lot more to it than you think!

Nice quirky hotel... a lot more to it than you think! The property goes a long way back and has interesting little nooks and cranny's. Our bedroom was very small and I think the bed was a 'french' double (in england we call it a small double). Breakfast was a continental and portioned out for two people exactly. It was adequate. Everything was spotless clean.

Out stay was really nice, the accommodation was lovely, clean and had all you needed, cosy, it definitely was.The jacuzzi bath was an added bonus and definitely had fun using it! The house was a couple of minutes walk to restaurants and bars. Our hosts Karen and Eric were absolutely amazing, nothing was to much trouble and they went above and beyond to help make our stay and getting around Hesdin as easy as possible. Lovely, warm, friendly couple.

A delightful quiet place to stay with very friendly hosts. The book we received as a gift was wonderful and a lovely touch. They suggested and booked a fabulous place for us to have supper. There wasn’t a lot to see in Hesdin itself but it was a great place for a one night stopover We really do hope to return one day

Exceptionally clean gîte. Easy walking distance of Hesdin town. Pleasant walk along river nearby. Welcome chocolates a nice touch. Good base for Le Touquet visit and other areas. Travelled on motorbike and secure, electric-gated parking at property rear reassuring.

The host were really nice and waited for us long after the check-in deadline. The communication is easy if you speak French. English, not so much. The hotel itself is in a quiet place, if there isn't much traffic.
