Robin and Auralie, the owners, are very welcoming and helpful. They speak English well and make everyone feel at home. The room seemed as if it was newly renovated with fresh, white paint and new bed linens. It was equipped with a modern heating and air conditioning system so it was warm and toasty when I checked in. Amenities include a small size drinks fridge, a safe for valuables, and a small closet to hang a few clothes.

What Guests Said About Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer:

It’s a lovely area.

It’s a lovely area. The town is pretty and has something for everyone: plenty of shopping including a market, loads of restaurants, lots of different beaches, a marina, an arena for shows including Camargue horses and bulls, plenty of places offering horse rides and tons of ice cream parlours! We love Cabanes de Cacherel for horseriding. We love to see the rodeo at the arena. Our favourite beach is to the far west of the town on the route de l’Aramee. We tried out tubing on the back of a speedboat at Aquaglisse which was fun. A tour of a manade gives you great insight into the economy of the area and is wonderful - we recommend Manade de Layalle : Mathieu is a brilliant character. We also ventured to the Camarkas Equestrian Theatre which is a great night out. Both these last two are a 10-15 minute ride out of town. Further afield Aigues Mortes is well worth a visit for its amazing medieval splendour, as is a trip around the surreal landscapes of the salt pans. This is our third year to visit Camargue - there is so much to do and see. What I have detailed above is just the last 4 days we spent there. By the way we have three tween/teenagers to entertain and they keep begging to go back to Saintes Maries de la Mer.

We visited for the wildlife and countryside, and wanted to be near a town for shopping and eating. Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is very much a tourist beach destination and not a quiet French town. However, if beach resort if what you want, there were loads of restaurants and the beaches seemed immaculate with sand from the promenade to the water. As a base for exploring the countryside, it fulfilled the job well and it's easy to explore by bike. However, many paths are only suitable for mountain bikes (deep sand, water crossings) and you can find just a few paths for hybrids. Expect mosquitos and research your season well to avoid disappointment.

We love this little town, its people, its culture, its shopping, its restaurants and the activities it offers in Camargue, such as museums visitis, bird watching, horse back riding, cycling, and swimming in the sea. Tip: avoid the week prior to the Gypsies celebration of Santa Sara. While most Gypsies are just fine visitors, some cause troubles. Some shops close. Luckily, we departed three days prior to the feast, when some shops were already closed and robberies started to happen.

The unique culture the horses, bulls, flamingoes.

The unique culture the horses, bulls, flamingoes. Over 4 days and an evening, I visited Parc Ornithologique du Pont de Gau after taking the "Camargue petit train ". This was bird theatre. I went to the Arena to watch the skilled manades with the horses and bulls. I did a morning boat trip down to the little Rhone to enjpy this unique landscape with bulls and horses. From free classical concert at the church and pondering the amazing views from the roof to walking the length of the lovely beaches; food discoveries at the weekly market included buying taureau saucisson, fresh fish, cheese, local rice and salt. My local meal in the square was "dourade" caught by the chef that day. My own "self-guided" adventures were very satisfying but I wanted more time to soak in the history and culture, and with more sunsets. I meant to visit the Museum, but another time, and I will also visit the salt pans and rice fields too, plus horsewriding. I walked everywhere. Great ice cream makers, and a magical roundabout by the port with wonderful models of the bulls and horses. I would recommend Office du Tourisme. -very friendly and helpful, and local bus service - excellent. I look forward to coming back and discovering more..

Really pretty and quiet hotel with spacious rooms with terraces and spacious, modern bathrooms. The owners were incredibly welcoming and friendly and we spent a gorgeous afternoon relaxing at the pool. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere so a car is needed to get around. For dinner, we walked to the only nearby restaurant (15 mins walk) which was lovely. By car, Les Saintes Maries de la Mer is only a 10 minute drive away and there are lots of restaurants and bars on the seafront.

Well-located across one of the beaches in Saintes-Maries-de-la-mer. We had a very pleasant stay. The manager/owner was very accommodating and solicitous. Many restaurants close by, and the town centre is a five-minute walk away. There's a lot to do in and close to town. We'll be back again.
