What a brilliant welcome. The staff were simply lovely. The hotel is right in the heart of the town, we arrived on a Sunday but there were still a few bars and restaurants open, which was great. There was secure parking for motorbikes in the barn, which was great. The rooms were stunning, really well done, clean, modern, etc. Breakfast was great too...and we had to try the local ginger cake..which was very nice. We would head back here in a heartbeat.

Incredible host, we came late and hotel was empty but open for us with an instructions. Location was outside but very close to the main historic center. I was sorry to see this one time a great hotel in need of update. Hotel had a better times. Room was nice, clean and functional but needs some updating. Parking was free in front of the hotel.

Incredible location in one of the prettiest French villages (which for France is saying a lot!). Relatively few tourists. Beautifully remodeled and equipped apartment up OLD circular staircase. Didn’t meet hosts but excellent directions. Extremely good value!

Beautiful historic house and extra-charming hostess! Very helpful with restaurant réservations, suggestions etc. Delicious breakfast served in a large private sitting room that we used to work and read in. Lots of space, big bathroom, comfortable bed and down comforter 30 second walk from the gâte of the old City and the tourist office. 5 minute walk from free City parking.

City beautiful from outside but many businesses and properties up for sale or rent. and felt in decline. Few restaurants of which best no longer open. Good meal at Les Minimes. Recommend visit to La Grande Forge du Buffon and ChauteauNeuf en Auxois

Nice little medieval town

Nice little medieval town with a loft of things to do in the surroundings We recommend for people who want to travel and enjoy their holidays without the ton's of tourists around them. Burgundy is real secret place to be , full of surprises and nice people lot's of ancient places , the countryside, the peacefullnes the food , the wine ... a perfect getaway

Semur en Auxois is a beautiful old French town.

Semur en Auxois is a beautiful old French town. My wife worked in the Burgundy area many years ago but had never visited Semur until our recent stay. We stayed in the older part of town and had a very relaxing experience. Ample Restaurants, Bars and Cafe's with friendly staff. A friend told us we must eat at "La Cuisine de la Fontaignotte" restaurant. The only reservation we could secure was for lunch 3 days in advance as all dinner reservations were already booked. We took the opportunity for lunch and had one of the most memorable meals I can recall. It is hard to say the preparation and presentation were superb but in this instance they were. The staff were busy but attentive and our small group of friends had a wonderful experience. First Class Cuisine.

The town is vey old and the buildings beautiful.

The town is vey old and the buildings beautiful. The setting is extraordinary being on a hill in the loop of the river. The guide books say visit the church. Not possible for us on a sunday evening. I feel we missed out. In late march not many restaurants were open but the one we went to was very nice and reasonably priced

Semur-en-Auxois is a gorgeous medieval town, perched high on old (and crumbling) ramparts. The old town has some colombage and other old buildings. The views of the river from the ramparts are fabulous as are the views of the town and bridge from the river below. Getting into and out of the old town can be tricky if you're not familiar with it.

The apartment was beautiful and very tastefully decorated, and had everything you could need, including (once I had worked it out,) Netflix! It was comfortable and very clean. Sarah the host was absolutely fabulous, and was on hand if necessary. The views from the apartment and terrased garden where gorgeous as was the town of Semur-en-Auxois. It was incredibly hot while we stayed, but that didn't detract from the ambience of the apartment and surroundings. Would we recommend a stay here? 100% we would.

This quaint hotel seemed to morph into exactly what was needed at the time. Upon our return from a walk through the town a hotel bar seemingly appeared from behind a wall. In the morning the breakfast room similarly appeared! Staff were very helpful and the room was bright and spacious.

Lovely apartment in a beautiful location. It was clean, and the beds were very comfortable. The host was always quick to respond to any questions, and the information provided about checking in was clear and easy to follow. Semur-en-Auxois is so picturesque. We loved our time here.

Slightly old fashioned feel (chunky metal keys!), but lovely atmosphere, quiet, and friendly staff. The opposite end of the scale to the banal chain hotels.
