This is the best location and dwelling across the board I have ever stayed in and we've travelled for many years. The sun drenched decking. The fire pit for steak and sausages. Comfortable bed, very clean, like a luxury log cabin. TV. Fridge. Microwave. Hob. We're coming back very soon! Absolutely adored this stay. Really special.

My brother and his family live in Alton and the Swan Hotel is only a short walk from their home which makes it the perfect place to stay when visiting. For those wanting a base to visit the local places of interest the hotel is perfectly situated in the high street.

Centre of town short walk from rail station. Lovely park. Street market at weekend. Pleasant town with some interesting buildings and museum. Nice cafes, pubs, various places for food. Good place for wheelchairs. Road and footway no kerbs in many places. Slight incline in part but manageable.

your reviews suggested it was of a high standard and clean. We actually didn't stay as it was dirty, room was ok but didn't fancy eating there to be honest. once we had parked car, you needed to stay as very limited space and super busy. Dreadful experience

The Alton area is lovely for walks, dogs paddling in chalk...

The Alton area is lovely for walks, dogs paddling in chalk streams and visiting Jane Austen's village of Chawton - don't miss Chawton House. It's also very convenient for Farnham, Winchester and the gorgeous Meon Valley.

Alton is a pleasant small town with a few good places to eat...

Alton is a pleasant small town with a few good places to eat. It is in a good location for sightseeing and central for country pursuits, also not far from Winchester,Jane Austen’s house and Selbourne which is also very interesting.

I loved my stay at the Alton House Hotel, as I have never...

I loved my stay at the Alton House Hotel, as I have never been to Alton before the staff were polite friendly and extremely helpful, I also made two new friends whilst I was there which is truly fantastic. I would recommend this hotel to any one that asked as in my eye's there is no better place or people.

This was our second stopover at the Swan Hotel and we had another great stay. Particular thanks to Mandy for making us feel welcome and being friendly and helpful, and to Louisa in the restaurant for being so attentive. Dinner was very good with plenty of choice. The room was comfortable and clean and we had everything we needed. The location is ideal for exploring the local area and within walking distance of Jane Austen’s house.

The location was perfect for us. We booked two rooms. I understand that the new owners are going to refurbish the whole hotel The housekeeper was very helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean. There is parking on site for a few cars.
