The hotel and staff were excellent. The food was superb and value for money. I would highly recommend the hotel if you are staying on the islands. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The owners are attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The rooms are excellent and well prepared for you. 5 Stars all round

The house was perfect for our stay. In a very central location get facilities and very clean and spacious. I especially liked the outhouse with laudry facilities which in the middle of a walking holiday came in very handy for some washing.

The house was very spacious for its size and very well set up! It was easy to locate. The bedroom felt spacious for the size, and the toiletries provided felt luxurious! The host left us a lovely note wishing us good travels and a bottle of wine for our honeymoon! There is a washer and dishwasher as well which made our stay very pleasant!

Balvanich village is very much centrally located in regards...

Balvanich village is very much centrally located in regards to getting around Benbecula, North & South Uist, so is an ideal location if you're planning on travelling around the islands for a few days from a single point. Worth noting is that the house is nearly equidistant between the two main terminals receiving ferries from the mainland. Local facilities to the house at Balvanich, are as good as you will find, through the three islands. The house is roomy and very suitable for groups of friends, large family groups etc.

It’s a tiny town with a great community and lovely people...

It’s a tiny town with a great community and lovely people who welcomed us with open arms on Halloween. Trick or treating was wonderful ! It’s very central to the islands with good access to supermarkets, and restaurants. There are great beaches close by, and wonderful wildlife.

Balivanich is an ideal location for a stay over while...

Balivanich is an ideal location for a stay over while exploring North Uist, South Uist & Benbecula. Everything you need locally. Easy access to explore the Uist islands. The roads are narrow, but easy to drive, the causeways linking the islands are so scenic and lovely to drive. Access to the Isle of Harris via the Berneray to Leverburgh ferry. Easy access to Lochmaddy ferry. Lots of scenic locations for budding photographer’s & bloggers. The Gin distillery, pony trekking, smokehouse & bakeries. Don’t miss the Scandinavian bakery.

Beautiful community. All helpful. Charlie’s Bistro and staff excellent with great service . Beaches amazing. Gin distillery excellent. Owner very knowledgeable. Gin great. Dark isle hotel had great food and drinks. Taxi driver Iain most helpful.
