I had the most wonderful time when staying at the Garden Arms Pub and Rooms recently (June 12-13). The owners were friendly and welcoming, the pub was cozy and inviting, the rooms were homey and clean, the bathroom was updated and well-equipped, and I had the whole floor above the pub to myself! I especially enjoyed taking to locals and other visitors in the pub and having breakfast and tea in the sitting room, looking out at the amazing view of the sea. The older building is charming and in a great location to enjoy the village of Gardenstown and walks in the area. They have created a wonderful place there at the Garden Arms and I hope to visit again soon!

What Guests Said About Gardenstown:

We found the area perfect for what we wanted it for.

We found the area perfect for what we wanted it for. Plenty walks. Scenery beautiful especially from the top of the village. It was the perfect location for us to stay and travel to other areas. The parking was the only struggle but not a huge issue. A very friendly place and the beach was beautiful.

There are lovely walks nearby, along the beach and over the cliffs. We enjoyed visiting Crovie and Pennan. Sadly, eating places were all closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, the days we were there, so we had to go further afield to Macduff for our fish and chips. There is a fantastic, well-stocked wee shop in the old part of Gardenstown though, open daily 9-9, so it would have been possible to make a great meal. Gardenstown is built on a slope, so getting around is probably only easy if you are fit. Best not to drive along the sea front, unless you live there, or are the postman, as there is not a lot of space between the houses and the sea.

The views are spectacular and the people very friendly, everyone speaks to you. The hotel food was excellent and staff very friendly. Lots of seating areas down by the harbour. Unless staying in the hotel or down by the harbour, the area is very hilly so walking not for everyone.

A friendly village with lots of character, locals enjoy a friendly blether, didn't manage to eat out on account of our dog but the addition of the wee grocers shop has helped the village a lot. Driving, especially along the Seatown end of the village may seem a bit hairy for the more nervous drivers.
