What Guests Said About Kirk Ireton:

Such a pretty stone-built village with no eyesores at all...

Such a pretty stone-built village with no eyesores at all and set in the most beautiful countryside. The wonderful pub serves beer from jugs - brought up from the cellar I imagine, does one dish of home made food that needs to be booked and the decor is - none. Just a plain darkish room with a woodburner, huge slate tables and plain benches and chairs - it could be a Dickens film set. (There is a more 'modern' - I use the word comparatively), lounge bar but I only glanced at it. Village shop is community run and extremely well stocked for a tiny shop. Most impressive. There's no through traffic and little local, the silence at night is deafening but I wish they'd turn the bloody street lights off at midnight so the night can be enjoyed. Nearest facilities are min 15 minutes away. It's the sort of place you'll take pictures of.

We were on a road trip so just had a one night stop in KI. There's a pub 2 minutes from the accommodation but there was no issue with noise as it closed early (about 9.30pm, I believe) We drove to Matlock Bath and ate in Charles Fish & Pie Restaurant, which is well recommended. Then back to Kirk Ireton for the end of Wakes Week with an outdoor gig in a local field-a great night was had.

A lovely quiet village.

A lovely quiet village. A great base for going out walking from or to take day trips out, all within reasonable distances. When planning days out and where to eat, do your research as many of them are not open Mondays and Tuesdays.

Lovely, quiet village not far from Ashbourne.

Lovely, quiet village not far from Ashbourne. Boasts an old pub, old church & village shop with part-time opening hours. Some lovely short rural paths though fields in & around the village. Well worth a visit to escape the hurly burly of urban life.

We used to travel there many years ago before children so it was to reunite with old friends. The Barley Mow next door is one of our favourite pubs with great beer and we loved the posh burgers (bean burgers are available). The village is lovely and we had a walk to Carsington Water. Parking outside the property was no problem and the pub was open to quench our thirst at the end of our long walk 😁

Kirk Ireton is a quiet, safe village.

Kirk Ireton is a quiet, safe village. It is close to Matlock and Carsington Water, which is a nice place to visit. The Barley Mow Inn, next door, only does food at weekends, but there are plenty of pubs/ restaurants within short driving distance.
