Seemed like it was brand new. I wouldn’t be surprised if I was the first person who stayed there! Very very pleasant, done to a high quality with real thought and attention to detail. Feels like a proper little apartment with a usable kitchen and front room. Would make a pretty good base for a couple to enjoy the area on a budget, especially if they used the garden. 2 nice pubs in the village.

Booked the Pickwick Inn for the night as we had visited it many times for food and drinks over the years whilst holidaying in the area. We stayed the Friday night before moving to Bigbury on sea and had a wonderful night. The bar banter was great and the food was good.

Warm friendly layout . Welcome email with clear instructions. Beautiful room . Layout is functional yet elegant . A very comfortable bed like sleeping in between clouds and great sleep as it's quiet during the night . Lots of lovely extras like a coffee machine in the room for good quality coffee. Lovely meal at the pub next door . Would stay again.

A small place built either side of a narrow main road.

A small place built either side of a narrow main road. A few shops, nothing out of the ordinary but quite a few art and craft type shops. Nice old church but no town center as such, just a linear development on quite a steep hill; 10 minutes and you have walked up and down both sides. Not wheel chair friendly with plenty of steps and narrow doorways. Seems to be the kind of place you pass through on the way to somewhere else.

What we liked most was the friendliness of the owners & good...

What we liked most was the friendliness of the owners & good pub food. The Hotel had no long stay parking at or near the Hotel, such a long walk with cases. The cleanliness of the Hotel itself needs a full upgrade. We had our bedroom window with a broken pane & cardboard over it. Not what you expect or want to pay for in a Hotel standard.

Really useful to be on the bus route with buses to Plymouth...

Really useful to be on the bus route with buses to Plymouth & Dartmouth every hour. Excellent shops on hand for everyday needs & holiday gifts etc. Short drive to coast & also Dartmoor.

There is a good range of eateries.

There is a good range of eateries. The architecture is interesting and it has a history. Good parking in the town itself at reasonable prices. In addition to eateries, there is a Co-op with friendly and helpful staff. All of these were within a short walk: downhill and uphill!

We would recommend Woodmead to anyone who wants to enjoy that area of the country. And very nice welcome at Modbury Inn which is in walking distance. The young could learn to surf and paddle board at local beaches. Bigbury on Sea and Hope Cove
