Probably the best accomodation I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. I only need the basics when working away from home but this exceeded my expectations. From my arrival to when I left everybody was seriously friendly and helpful, very comfortable room, excellent WiFi, impressive evening meals and rounded off by a superb breakfast. I might be able to revisit very soon, looking forward to it.

What Guests Said About Portknockie:

Lovely quiet seaside town with great views over Moray Firth.

Lovely quiet seaside town with great views over Moray Firth. Spotted a Minke whale and a seal while paddle boarding in nearby Cullen Bay-just beautiful. Lovely coastal walk/ cycle both directions.

The streets are very clean, and the houses seem newly painted. The fiddle rock and coastline are very beautiful. With Cullen, Portsoy, Banff and Buckie all nearby, it makes a great base for a 2/3 night break.

A lovely wee village.

A lovely wee village. Not a lot there but we didn't need much for a long weekend. The chippie was great and a good atmosphere in the pub but didn't eat there. The Spar shop is very handy too. All within a very short walk. From Portnockie you can walk in 45 minutes to both Cullen and Findochty on dog friendly paths. And that then opens up more opportunities for sandy beaches, ice cream shops, other restaurants and antique shops. In Portnockie, the harbour is much lower than the houses so you don't have the risk of the sea blowing into the garden, unlike some of the other little fishing villages.

For our break, Portknockie was in just the right place.

For our break, Portknockie was in just the right place. It was just over an hour to Inverness airport. It was easy to access the main road and go to other towns along the coast and in the area. The fish and chip shop which was recommended in Portknockie, was great. We were looking at our family history and many of the towns in the area had Heritage Centres with lovely, helpful people.

Portknockie is a quant fishing village.

Portknockie is a quant fishing village. At the time I went (April 5th) it was mainly locals which is what I wanted. Although my reservations were for one night I stayed three. The people are so friendly and the owners of the Hotel were fantastic. It is a quick drive from Portsoy and other great towns. The Hotel was fantastic and the food was wonderful. They have a great pub which the locals seem to go to. I loved it!!

Lovely little village with other very similar ones all...

Lovely little village with other very similar ones all around. Great position for exploring the Moray coast and beyond. Plenty walks with glorious views. Highly recommended walking up to the top of the nearby "Bin" on a sunny day. Also for breakfast try the local "butteries" (morning rolls) warmed up with syrup on top. Yum!
