Our room faces the sea and gives us a wonderful start to each morning we wake up. We had a lovely breakfast every day, and polite and kind all-around hosts (You're the man, Steve!). Amenities are top-notch (love the pool/billiards table - my partner played his first billiards match here!). I love the spacious bathroom with tub, electric fan, wardrobe and a small fridge for our fresh food. The room is maintained daily by the cleaning staff. I love that they continuously improve and restore the facilities. It is also near the public transport station, giving us access to the city and other interesting locations around the island. We will certainly consider booking this place again when we go back to the Island!

We travelled as a couple and stayed here on the 26th/27th April. it was our first time to the Isle of Wight and we had a lovely time. The Fig Tree Hotel was a great choice as it's very modern, clean and comfortable. The location is really close-by to the seafront as well as the old village of Shanklin with some notable places worth checking out like the Shanklin Chine which is less than a 10 minute walk away. The staff/hosts at the hotel were very friendly and welcoming! We ended up enjoying the hot tub in the hotel too which was a lovely way to unwind after exploring this beautiful island.

I enjoyed the full breakfast in the conservatory with views out to sea. Peaceful setting. The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and were able to answer any questions I had, such as directions to go places, where I could eat, etc. My room and ensuite bathroom were very clean.

Old Shanklin was pretty but small, takes 10 mins to walk round, good place to enter the shingling chine and walk down and exit onto shanklin beach by the old pub on the beach, you can then walk along esplanade and enter back into chine up stairs to car park, shanklin beach is an old dadhioned bucket and spade with amusement arcade at the opposite end to chine, best places we found on island was west cost from bkackgang view point to Yarmouth

Shanklin is a lovely seaside town with a long beach that is perfect for walking and exploring. The coastline stretches all the way to the neighbouring town, so you can enjoy a scenic walk with sea views the entire way. It is very easy to find shops, small markets, and places to grab food or essentials. Public transport is also close by, so getting around or visiting nearby areas is simple and stress-free.

Shanklin has many nice restaurants (we enjoyed the Crab). It is well connetcted by train and bus to teh rest of the island, so it is easy and nice to go on long walks and come back by bus/train. The town is situated on top of a cliff, which we had not resliased, and made the wak to the beach longer than we thought (the lift to the beach was temporarily our of order). We had a nice stay in Shanklin.

Shanklin has a large, beautiful beach; safe for swimming and well-equipped with places to eat and fun options like crazy golf on the sea front. I also loved walking down to the beach via the greensward and beautiful hotels. Walking up was not so easy in the heatwave! The cliff railway is out of action, so it’s not an ideal beach for a disabled person. We loved visiting the chine, and returned one evening to see the lit-up option. We also loved the old village, which is very picturesque with thatched roofs. We particularly enjoyed the Old Thatch tearooms right in the centre.

Despite our disappointing experience with the hotel, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Shanklin. The town itself is beautiful, the beach is lovely, and there are plenty of attractions nearby. We would happily visit Shanklin again, but we would choose a different place to stay.

If you can manage a few steps, recommend on booking, you ask for a lower level room to the front of the Hotel entrance. Quietest rooms in the Hotel. This Hotel is not rowdy, a great base to visit the Island from.

The hotel is always kept very clean in all areas, the buffet breakfast and hot food order offers a very good choice. All the staff are extremely helpful and will always answer any questions you may have. The sea views from the hotel are excellent. The location is very good and the hotel offers a free Chine pass for access to the Beach etc. There are footpaths that lead you to the old village for shops and pubs.

It was a pleasant, friendly place to stay, excellent breakfasts and we were well looked after by the owners. It was ideally situated in the pretty Shanklin Old Village and near the main road. We had decided to take advantage of the excellent I.O.W bus services to get around, so were near bus stops. Shanklin Chine was nearby too.
