Our issue when we stepped off the train at Sleaford Station was the lack of a toilet. The facilities were locked at 3pm on Friday afternoon. We were told they were locked at 1.30pm! Why? Luckily a staff member appeared & reluctantly opened them. There were no taxis on the rank, but after a few telephone calls I was able to get a taxi to take us to our hotel in Ewerby, for which we were very grateful. I am 75, my husband is 81 with a heart condition & brother-in-law 73 with Parkinsons. I was really shocked at the lack of facilities after a journey of 6 hours.

Since our last visit, 8 years ago, there has been many changes to the hotel. We loved the upgraded rooms, the decor and carpeted floors. Our room was a bit cramped, the shower room was beautifully done just a little cramped for us now and needed some grab rails inside the shower cubicle. There was adequate drawer space and hanging space in the bedroom which made it a tight fit around the bed. We realised we need to book an accessible room next time. We stayed for a 3 day cricket match in Sleaford, so it was only a 15 minute drive to and from the ground. We ate our Evening meals in.the hotel and arranged the Sunday night to be there for 7.00pm for a choice on the menu, the staff were very helpful.

It's a lovely little town, lots of really beautiful areas to wander through. A lot of historical places to see and the people were super friendly. Plenty of great restaurants nearby, from fancy and upscale to more economic. There's a lovely walk along the river as well as plenty of shops in town. It was a great little place to stay and I look forward to returning.

Lovely walks by the river, east and west.

Lovely walks by the river, east and west. Lots of seating around and cafes, and there are various activities going on in the church rooms , clubs - just look out for posters. The Hub, if you are visiting for a while, has various daily courses.

We like Helpringham . It’s a friendly place .

We like Helpringham . It’s a friendly place . We also like Heckington and the windmill . Excellent for coffee at the cafe there . We are from Devon and rolling hills so the flat landscape is a novelty for us ! Still close enough for a day at the coast or a visit to Belton Hall . Super garden centre . Pennells on the A46 . Nice little Chinese take out in Heckington . Good prices .

Sleaford is a hidden gem.

Sleaford is a hidden gem. It is a small town, which looks a little run down on first viewing, but actually has a lot going for it. The National Centre for Craft and Design is based there (The Hub) and has really cutting edge exhibitions in, and lots of scrumptious contemporary crafts to buy. There are some great eateries; Tablez (award winning cafe - brunches to die for!), and the Thai Sabai were both great. Surrounding villages have lots of good foodie pubs, and it is good base to visit the Wolds (Woodhall Spa is lovely), Heckington (the only working 8 sailed windmill in England) and of course Lincoln.

Room was recently decorated to very high standard and fittings and fixtures were to high standard. Hotel room and dining room had air conditioning which was very much appreciated in the heat wave last week. There is a lot of parking at the property. Also 5 minute wall to sleaford. Very accessible for everywhere. Breakfast was charged separately but was prepared by a very cheerful and accomplished chef . I enjoyed all the meals and all staff were friendly and accommodating.

This is a brilliant place. Even though it's located right in the centre of town the room was very quiet. Really comfortable bed and high quality fixtures and fitting. One of the best showers I've ever had! Staff were lovely and very helpful. We had a meal in the pub next door and it was brilliant - hotel guests get ten per cent off.
