United StatesThis hotel is beautiful. The design and standard of the furnishings are top class. All high tech lighting systems , modern and comfortable. Breakfast is a very nice continental offering with freshly cooked eggs if you want. The owner and his staff could not do enough for you and were so helpful. Set on the gorgeous little square in koszeg with some lovely restaurants. This was a lovely find for my business trip. Only 20 mins from Szombathely .

The old town is pretty, but very small: one can walk around...
The old town is pretty, but very small: one can walk around it in little more than half an hour.
There are a couple of old churches, very pretty inside but under heavy restauration (scaffolding) outside. A 17th Century Jesuit pharmacy is preserved as a diverting little museum, but the main town museum is closed - apparently indefinitely (?).
The castle is worth visiting but large parts of the exhibition were also closed, for no apparent reason. Still, there is a very interesting small exhibition on the Hungarian Crown and its regalia, and how they were saved from the Fascists and smuggled out of Hungary during 1944-45. The archive film footage of the Royal Crown Guards from the same period is fascinating.
Perhaps the most interesting sight in the town is the former synagogue, architecturally quite unusual in design, built in 1858-59, left derelict after the entire Jewish community was deported in 1944, finally restored in 2021 and now resplendent in its pristine beauty with the original decoration clear to see.

It is perfect for people fond of touring in the hills and...
It is perfect for people fond of touring in the hills and woods, many interesting sights to see. Kőszeg also has famous Jurisich Fortress worth of seeing and learning about its history. It is also quite close to some other places to see, so you have quite a choice of possible routes to take.
Kőszeg also has very interesting architecture, very many old houses included in national heritage, even our accomodation was in one of those.
Last but not least, they have quite a few excellent restaurants to have a meal or drink at.
Worth to visit, highly recommended.

Beautiful, but kind of sleepy historical town.
Beautiful, but kind of sleepy historical town. Many restaurants and cafes with long opening hours and possibility to pay with a card. Local wine. Awesome restaurant Zombie on the main square with English speaking personell offering great mexican cuisine and pizza.

It is a small town with nothing much to do, more so since it was 1 January and everything was closed. The Church of the Sacred Heart in the centre of the town is absolutely stunning inside. Sadly the outside is scaffolded as it is still being renovated. The Buk Thermal baths are quite close and are fantastic.

Kőszeg is a nice, tiny town at the Austro-Hungarian border.
Kőszeg is a nice, tiny town at the Austro-Hungarian border. There are beautifully renovated houses from the 17-18. century in downtown and, of course, the Fortress. The churches are also beautiful. The main one at Fő tér is under reconstruction.
Locals are friendly and helpful. I owe many thanks to one of them (Barbara, from the Hair and Beauty Salon near Tesco and Penny Markt) who helped me find a new accomodation after I had realized the one I booked was out of question.

Appartment is still under construction, the building itself located on main street is in poor condition. The beds are comfortable and there is air conditioning in each room.
The city of Koszeg is amazing and cozy- worth to visit!
The shop in the center with milk products and local bakeries was a positive surprise.

Easy to find on the outskirts of town next to a lovely lake. Comfortable beds, clean bathroom, quiet at night. There is plenty of car parking and outdoor space. Good value for money, I would recommend to groups of friends and families.
