The town is a little run down.

The town is a little run down. But it's people are kind and mostly respectful. The have wonderful bus service to Budapest,two busses every hour to at ten past the hour and forty minutes past the hour. Shopping at the weekend marketplace was interesting. Their department store in town had everything you could Want including souvenirs at good prices. There is a small food market right across the street. And a bigger one just one block away. And a small convenience store with soup to nuts 200 feet from hotel up the street.. Very close to check border with two good eateries within ten miles.But hotel food was great !

Such a beautiful town!

Such a beautiful town! Words cannot describe, it’s a place you just have to visit to experience its beauty. The serenity, the landscape is beyond stunning. I got lost in looking at all the beautiful trees and listening to all the birds. The people are all so friendly. I loved every second I spent here. The food is another level. It’s hard to choose which bakery and cake shop to eat from as there are so many. All of which are fresh and tasty. There are so many restaurants and smaller food /take away shops to choose from also. Salgótarján stole my heart for sure!
